BusHunter
So if this is the retired list, this must be the buses that would be on the stored list... about 103 buses. Out of these, the 53 NABI's still on the stored list would be here. The rest are probably scrapped or heading there. 7500-7509,7512-7522,7524,7526,7528-7536,7538,7539,7541-7543,7546-7553,7556-7557,7559-7561,7563,7566, 7569,7573,7576-7577,7582-7584,7593-7594,7601,7606,7611-7612,7614,7616-7620,7622-7624,7633,7640,7645, 7652,7654,7656-7660,7662,7664,7669,7671,7673,7679,7682,7686-7687,7695,7700-7702,7704-7706,7712-7717, 7721-7722,7724-7725 I can't seem to find this other list to eliminate the other 50 buses, so I wonder if Andrethebusman knows what they are? garmon757
According to my vision @ 77th, there are about 15 NABI's left. However, I don't know why they cut 7542 in half.

If you go way back, 7542 was the one that broke in half, thus precipitating the whole crisis. __________ BTW, I see that NF redid the NABI website, so the Press Release at issue is no longer available. sw4400
Oh I see. Thanks. That sums up very well. Actually, it was still together when this whole thing escalated... #7542 was the one that split and caused it, but it was still together... photos from Local 241 linked by a member here show proof of that. It was most likely taken apart by the engineer to closely inspect the defect of the NABI buses as a whole, see what failed on them and if there was a way CTA could get them fixed and back on the road again(and we know there wasn't). Busjack
Anyway it goes, I think it was a waste of money and space. Maybe they will make them like the SSRT tribute 2000 car set into a sculpture. Entitle it something like "Ode to the Kruesi Administration's Competence." I saw that the 3 fuel cell buses had been moved again (together in the middle of the Perry lot a month ago); maybe that will become an Ode to Belcaster.* ________ *CTA President forced to resign when it was revealed that he was investing in Ballard Power Systems while the test was ongoing. The three fuel cell 5900s did move but not too much though. Very clever of you about them (7500s) being a sculpture.

Guest
All NABIs are gone except for #7565 and split up #7542. Two weeks ago I was at 77th fueling our CFD Flxible bus and I saw a line full of NABIs on the east end of the scrap yard. I also saw 7542. Busjack
Maybe you could use the correct thread: Well, I shouldn't give away secrets here, but the cat's out of the bag now.... The CTA has saved #7542, had both halves taken to a secret shop outside of Chicago and put it back together barely so the bus bounces up and down in the articulated section really hard on bumps and you can see the daylight in between the joints as it is holding together barely, but the CTA assures that the bus will not fall apart, just give thrill seekers a ride they won't forget. They're going to run it on a route that's TBD on 10/31/14 and have dubbed it the "Scary Bus" decked out with black paint, Ghosts, Pumpkins, Dracula, Frankenstein and orange and black colored lighting inside the bus. Time TBD, but rumored to start at 6:06p with a special fare of $6.66 to ride this one-time bus. Bus Operator is said to be outfitted with badge #666. The bus creaks, squeaks and the passengers shriek.... Ride it..... if you dare..... muhahahaha!!!! For what food bank are the proceeds of the Scary Bus dedicated? Sam's Emporium of Indigestion? Maybe to get to a more serious, but moot point, the NABI Press Release implied that it recalled the LA BRTs after the 7542 split, but looking through their NHTSA filings (which I am sure you can find since you used the Nova ones), the recall was because 2 LA buses had split at the articulation joint, and there they said they recalled the CTA buses, even though they had not inspected 7542 (consistent with the Press Release) but figured that they had the same joint.... So, sort of like the wrestlers who had to leave because they lost a "loser leave town match," the apparent cause and effect in this case was also swapped. Busjack
Maybe another interesting aside: While search for Altoona tests, the home page has: Effective October 1, 2012, MAP21 mandates the implementation of a Pass-Fail requirement for bus testing. The FTA is developing a framework for this regulation and is expected to issue a NPRM in the near future. I guess that's why the NABI 60LFW didn't technically fail.
