On Pace Heritage

#22300-22330

Can someone update this on Wikipedia

  • Unless you have some inside information, public sources indicate this isn't verified.
  • Stuff like Wikipedia isn't authoritative (although I see that after 2 years, someone finally fixed CPTDB wiki, which had 20324-20399 and some as 20500s).

CPTDB sent me to The Transit Camera's Flikr. 22300s are in the photosream that starts here. Strange that they have a rear door and apparently little seating.

OK so it wasn't just me that the back door on a 30-foot bus is strange.  I saw one up close yesterday on the 834 and thought that was really odd.  This picture show max seating accommodations of 18 people.  Seems low to me, but maybe that's the new norm?

CTA Optimas also had a back door, but I don't think that wide.

I thought that when I personally saw 20300s in Naperville, they didn't, and the difference is confirmed in two of Chicagoland Transit's videos:

20300

22300

Update: It doesn't look like that, as of when the videos were taken, most of the signs were updated to reflect the Joliet TC (one was, but the others were Joliet/Webster).

There are 17 fixed seats in the rear section and 8 folding seats in the front low floor section.

Not quite as bad as what it looked in the flikr picture, and compares to 27 in the others. But like the 35' NABIs, the front section is not worth much if the 2 wheelchair positions are used.

22300-22312, 22314-22322 are all in service with Heritage according to Bus Tracker. 22308, 22310 & 22316 were the last to enter service on 3/30.

22333 entered service with River on 3/28

And there are no 2700s out as of right now.  Unless any come out during the PM rush, I think we've seen the end of them at Heritage.  It'll be interesting to see where 22323-22332 land as this report accounts for 22 buses, less than the 2700s they're replacing (2742-2764 and 2766).

EDIT:  22331, 22334, and 22344 are out at River now.

Their buses have it's new garage in Plainfield, it's not in Joliet anymore

The Transition plan says that 25 22300s were delivered and 25 are still on order (page 35). So maybe it gets to 22350, although RevGroup announced 44. It also indicates that the fleet will decrease by about 130 buses. It also says that 38 30' buses will have to be replaced by BEBs. 38 buses now to R seems like too much considering the BEB schedule, and we would already be up to 60. (38 might include the 7 Schaumburg Trolleys). Also, the question would be what Pace intends to do with Niles (11 buses) and MV routes 711 and 715 (6 buses), not to mention that FV is still running a couple of old 30' buses.

And don't forget Bridgeview and NW still has a handful of them.  Will they stick around after all this?

MV has that 12000 El Dorado from Dekalb running too (not on Bustracker, but it was at Brookhaven Plaza yesterday).

But it's not like NW & SW need them. By contrast, the trend doesn't seem like local service out of H, FV, and R are going to run 40' buses, and Niles certainly isn't either. And, to get even more afield, there are still the more than 40 buses that are sitting around after the feeders were pulled.

@maths22's tracker has everything between 22323-22344 except 22329 and 22343 at R. As I noted above, the questions are whether that's essentially it, and whether that's consistent with the consultant's report.

22329 on @maths22's tracker as of 4/22. 22343 as of 4/21. That seems to be it.

Pace is going to make the 2600s run as long as humanly possible, might as well. They have so many out there from the feeder cuts still that they're not utilizing and it sounds like some of the former Heritage buses are still in good enough shape to move them instead of the scraper.

#2752 is at Fox Valley Garage which will replace the 2600s Series

It looks like MV's 2726-2735 are OOS. Tracker indicates substitutes are 2744, 2747, 2762 (plus 2808, 2812 that it had from the Westmont contract).

2743, 2751, 2764 are still on H routes.

Plus MV has 2697/2698 as well as the Green El Dorado that isn't on the tracker.

2621 and 2627 are currently still out there.  How long is anybody's guess.

The late 2600 are also still there.  Don't expect 2676 to be gone too quickly, that bus was OOS for months during it's rehab.  If anything, it could get moved.
