Busjack
Car and Driver had a column a couple of months ago about high rise apartment buildings having garages off the kitchen needing car elevators, but a bus one is something new. However, the folks behind the Brooklyn Nets supposedly have a lot of money.

However, the folks behind the Brooklyn Nets supposedly have a lot of money. Yeah, money is a wonderful thing. I've been told by friends that in NY they stack cars two high in normal parallel parking spaces off the street. There are hydraulic lifts used similar to a 18 wheel car transporter. Actually now that I research this, I discover there are ones four high!! That's amazing!! https://www.google.com/search?q=stack+parking+ny&hl=en&client=firefox-a&hs=99o&rls=org.mozilla:en-US:official&tbm=isch&tbo=u&source=univ&sa=X&ei=sRlJUcf_FYPVyQHg4YDYBw&ved=0CDoQsAQ&biw=903&bih=525#imgrc=dKS8FNxNmmOPnM%3A%3BYhf5sdJC5HCslM%3Bhttp%253A%252F%252F4.bp.blogspot.com%252F_QpBKTv4TYzc%252FSwDEgxtGmDI%252FAAAAAAAAALU%252Fhv_ErFCwl5Q%252Fs1600%252FStack%252BEm%252BHigh.jpg%3Bhttp%253A%252F%252Fisawarttoday.blogspot.com%252F2009_11_01_archive.html%3B1600%3B1200

I think this is pretty gosh darn cool... https://www.youtube.com/watch?NR=1&v=ISKkGLDo1cw&feature=fvwp&noredirect=1 The first bus is a Prevost H3-45. The second one looks like a MCI E 4500 or J4500. The red (maroon) bus is a Setra S-417, and the last bus which is like the first, a pre 2003 Prevost. The end caps changed in 2993 and again circa 2007. But are any of the buses the ones that the 1000s of bulls crash in the Bulls opening? That's got to be a lot of expense by now.
sw4400
Found a Illinois Railway Mueseum video circa Sept. 1985. Lots of CTA vehicles in it... IRM 9/1985

Who would have thought?

Railwaymodeler
Did a search on YouTube the other day. Saw the video title, thought to myself "I bet it is in Waukegan". Watch the video and find out it IS Waukegan! Go figure! You mean that someone in Waukegan can text? And then the MF upset the bus so much it was running on its side, but was able to right itself for the relief driver? No wonder that MF bus had to be taken out of service permanently. Railwaymodeler
What now? If you're trying to speak like a Waukegan kid, don't bother. I can't understand them either.

No, I was trying to speak like the Waukegan old lady in the flip up seat. I understood the kid saying something about going to Waukegan High School. twyztdmynd
This made me laugh http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tzq8bfOgihA If you see someone in a Metra 'Quiet Car' and they pulled out a cell phone, What would you do? I haven;t seen what leads up to this but I may have acted similarly.

I haven;t seen what leads up to this but I may have acted similarly. Then you would've been put in the back of a CPD SUV and taken off to the nearest Police Station to be booked for assault. My two cents... The Metra "Quiet Car" is a stupid idea... it's a freaking train car, not a Library!!! I think Metra ought to eliminate the "Quiet Car" idea. Those that want that kind of peace can find it at home or at any branch of the Chicago Public Library.

Granted the guy was drunk and breaking the rules, but the other guy should have just found the conductor and let the conductor handle it because people are crazy these days as evidenced by linked video at the end of this one of the two gangster girls jumping on this older guy on a 62 Archer bus stopped at Archer and California because he didn't like the rap music they were playing on the bus and took matters into his own hands instead of letting the bus driver handle the situation by signaling police. Just like the guy on the bus almost caused other people besides himself to get hurt by approaching these two girls with possible gang ties based on the tattoos and way they carried themselves, the same could have happened on the Metra train. The disgruntled Metra rider is lucky all he got is escorted off the train along with the guy breaking the quiet car rule. The CTA incident shows something potentially worse could have happened because as I said you never know what a person's state of mind is these days. That gets back to Metra supposedly being friendly to its customers, with both the Quiet Car and the Family Car. But the Harold Washington Library (1) doesn't go to Kennilworth, although the charter car does go to Lake Forest, (2) has people on electronic devices, and (2) like the L overnight, has people who aren't there to use the books or devices, if you know what I mean. trainman8119
SW, you are totally correct, it is a stupid idea. For those who said the guy should have found the conductor, wrong answer. When this silly policy was enacted, the PR on it was that this would be self policed by passengers. You see the result. The real problem with the concept is that every one thinks that the quiet car is "THE FREAKIN SILENT CAR" which it is not. I hate any time I have to go into one. One day I had a woman complaining that a guy was snoring too loud. Really ? I agree, if you want quiet that bad, drive or stay home...or go see Harold Washington. Ok it may be bad policy and maybe folks need to push to have the policy changed, but until then what purpose does it serve this guy to take it upon himself to confront a man who was clearly drunk, in a day and age when people are freaking psycho, and can possibly do him bodily harm. As I said he's lucky the worst that happened to him is that he got tossed off the train with the drunk moron. In this age of psychos and short fuses, fights on transit vehicles can result in somebody getting killed. You may hate getting called to a quiet car, but it's better to be called because someone is overly sensitive to sound than to be called to one because someone got his head bashed in or worse for confronting someone whom he didn't realize was unhinged. artthouwill
It seemed to me the one guy overreacted. A quiet car doesn't mean you can't make a phone call. You can use prompts and never utter a word. The worse part was the train wasn't moving. The gut probably didn't want to risk losing his seat going to the vestibule, if indeed his intent was to talk.
