7900-series Nova LFS - Updates

South Shop 7

Recommended Posts

So far, buses that have arrived at South Shops are in these ranges:

#7900-10

#7911-20

#7921-30

#7931-40 (I believe #7932 is the only bus in this range)

#7950-60 (#7955)

and #7960-70 (evens only, save #7966)

If the next bus that arrives is an #8xxx... :P

Maybe Nova is the same as in about 2001; i.e. 6470s before much of anything else reported seen.

Welcome #7962, #7964, and #7968!!!

Now there we go, that's 6 buses in one week!! That's what was supposed to be happening all along!! About time!! So damn, up to #7968 is built? If manufacturing was on schedule even though the deliveries are late they should be up to #8033. It will be interesting to see what will be the highest bus they send to 77th.

But of course, we don't know what details CTA inspectors weren't satisfied with and/or possible tweaks they might have asked for after initial assemblies that caused the delay in them arriving on property. Either way, you are right that it is a good sign that things have gotten back on track with matching bus deliveries of past models on average.

  • Do you actually have a production schedule from Nova or are you extrapolating from NF's much larger capacity?
  • Have you told your "Facebook friend" that the evidence now is that he was wrong (i.e. he said no deliveries until Oct. 2015)?
  • In fact, since Bombardier is now delivering at the promised rate of 6 every 2 weeks, are you ever going to change your electronic signature?

#7999?????

An answer to an ambiguous question.

However, you may be onto something, in that deliveries per garage have historically been in the 100 or so range. Also, the first allocations of 1000s were obviously based on exercise of options for 430, and not just on the 285 or so base order. If one is assuming that 450 buses will be ordered this time around, it might be 8010, just like the first chunks of 1000s were 110.

Of course, as jajuan also stated, the first Nova deliveries to 77 went up to about 6549, even though Archer received a few 6530s, but eventually anything over 651? ended up at Archer. So, you never know.

I am basing my production schedule on the contracted arrangements. Notice I did say "if".

I don't know if my Facebook friend was wrong, this was the longest bus procurement I have ever seen including the NABI's. And CTA wasn't necessarily contradicting it either just sending buses out in the rush. They are still not sending them out on weekends which still seems strange to me. What info I was told by various sources seems accurate in a sense. But in that case what would CTA do? They would have to have a smoking gun like a NABI bus separation or they couldn't get the contract tossed out. If it went to court I would think they would need better evidence. What's happening in Canada is not good that's why I remarked before "well let's see what happens" which everyone misinterpreted as "I have an ax to grind" but that's not my intention. Unfortunately it doesn't seem like they can do much unless something happens major like an engine fire or something dangerous. We'll just have to see how the buses perform and if they are happy with them then they'll agree to the 150 option but if the option doesn't happen then that may be the last we see of Novabus here.

As far as my signature maybe I should change it to: Bombardier the longitudinal seat king but the other phrase is more catchy. Besides they have earned that designation with the problems they sent to CTA. I can't say definitely if the reassignment of the #7000 bids has anything to do with Bombardier winning and their refusal to let CTA change the seating arrangements on it's cars but I suspect so.

My point was simply that your Facebook friend said no deliveries until October 2015. That seems clearly proven false already.

As for the rest of what you have, you mention conspiracy theories, but that's all you have.

Why are we talking about that anyway wasn't that discussion forbidden. We should be celebrating they finally got some "f 'ing" buses as garmon would put it. What happens in the future happens.

I guess you forgot the reason--that it was unsubstantiated rumor. Also false rumor at that. I think your "friend" ought to know that.

now who's spreading rumors. You can't prove I'm wrong so just leave it alone.

I guess I can prove that some buses were delivered before October 2015, at least by Garmon's photos.

Since you don't understand that point, I will leave it alone. But then I suppose you should not be posting delivery lists.

So if like #8033 showed up tomorrow, you think it would go to 77th or they would send it to a second garage?

I think all of them has to be @ 77th because of inspections and programming before infiltrating other garages. I don't think that it will operate on 77th routes but I fully can't answer the question because I don't work for cta.

Look guys, I don't understand the beef between both of you but I've been busting my ass off and risking my life checking out what's new at the South Shop and giving bus updates for 9 months just to witness both of you argue for what purpose?!?!? BusHunter, I don't know what the specific person that's giving you info via Facebook smoking on but I'm not following Facebook just to get info. I'm not about to say that you're right nor wrong but what I see outside of cyberworld is what I'm going to observe except for official info from cta and Claypool. Hell, my day has been f'ed up with arguments from my fiancé, a damn prick of a bus driver from 74th that think I don't know a damn thing about cta and operations, and a jerk that couldn't remove his damn food just to let a young lady sit down while I was on #79 after I took the shot of #7963!!! How many more arguments I'm going to deal and witness with?!?!?!

Look, Busjack.... BusHunter has already said let's move on.... the only one who's beating this whole thing to death is you. I think you need to stop beating a dead horse here. BusHunter made a valid point that we're finally getting the 7900's... Jeez, I thought I was bad!

Let it go, ok? I was one of those that posted about the whole issue that was taken down... I've stopped talking about it for quite some time now.

As far as the rosters, don't even go there. Even our forum admin, Kevin appreciates BusHunter's updates(from an inside source that even I don't know, but it's a damn good one because those rosters are 100% accurate). If Kevin has no beef with it, it stays... it's his forum, remember?

Did you see this section of the main page?

Notable Forum Resources

Kevin put that up because he appreciates what all that BusHunter has done to get us an accurate roster of both the CTA bus and rail system.

I appreciate all you do, garmon.... you are the bravest of the brave on here. I would never ever travel to South Shops for photos of anything. I wouldn't even travel to the scrapyard at 95th/Ewing for the same reason. I really wish there was a North Side scrapyard for CTA buses.

I really appreciate that. I'm guessing that there is more space (well land) on the south side unless you specifically know a spot up north but let's get back on track with the topic. I don't know what's going on with #7955 because of it's license plates yet to be installed. However, #7931 might be cleared for service probably this week. If not, it's most likely to begin next week.

Well I guess the CTA has to register the bus with the Illinois DMV(and anyone who's had to get anything through the DMV should know how long that takes). I'm sure the CTA can't even apply for plates for the buses until they are on property and they submit copies of the papers with the bus info, VIN, etc... to them. And several days(or in this case, weeks) later, the state will mail out the plates to the CTA main office at 567 W. Lake St. and they'll have a courier no doubt bring them to South Shops(why ship from Lake St. to South Shops when you can just have someone drive them over... saves parcel cost) and they'll put the plates on the buses and then they'll begin their time on Chicago's streets in revenue service.

I thought IDOT plays a part with that but hey, it is what it is. I'm consistently bringing that up because #7928 #7931 #7932 and #7934 had their plates but #7931 and #7934 arrived AFTER #7955 unless South Shop hiding them somewhere on the premises that I'm not aware of.
