The 29 has been at 77th before. Don’t know why it got changed to 103rd.

To balance swings and interline for more economical runs at 95th. All of this is detailed in the spring 2008 topic.

Going by the schedule changes back when they tried to convert 66 and 79 it seems they planned on cutting 3-5 buses off each route by using artics but the added run times didn't allow that meaning they ended up assigning 40 buses for routes that ended up needing 45

That was more of a Huberman fraudulent idea to cover that the 4000s were needed because the 7500s were falling apart. Artics were used on 4 and 79 on and off, but didn't work mixed with 40' buses.

Whatever showed up on 4 and 79 during the NABI and 4000s were probably extras that didn't get used on the 6 probably similar to them popping up frequently on 52 at K so those weren't officially artic routes. @jajuanalso noted that 148 used the same amount of buses after conversion along with the artic fiasco shooting down implementation of the 2-3 plan you're bringing up. However 79 became exclusively artic Oct. 2013. Using way back machine and archived schedules similarly scheduled periods went from "every 2-3 min...." (prior to conversion) to "every 3-5 min..." so a 2-3 cut wasn't made but a few buses were definitely removed; those slight increases along with the eventual split of roughly 40 to C for 66 and 40 to 77th for 79 look like they tried to go from maybe 45 buses for each with 40fts to and 40 each with artics but the dwell times and failure to account for extra running time as @andrethebusmannoted led to the failure. This just wasn't as extreme as Huberman's plan which turned out to be a cover up for the Nabi fluke.

At least with the diesel 4300s, they were regular, made available when the Dan Ryan Red Line closure ended.

With changing clocks time of the year how do ctas overnight schedules compensate for going back or forward a hour or essentially a 23 or 25 hour day?

Schedules most likely stay the same since daylight savings start at 2am and most routes that run at that time are night owl services meaning only those operators get an extra hour to work.

That makes sense. I figured most schedules would remain the same, but I didn’t realize the overnight operators would need updated run paddles to account for the extra hour. Thanks for explaining that.
