An 8 car Not in Service consist passed me last night SB between Loyola and Granville enroute to Rosemont but I couldn't get the numbers because it was dark.

#7157-58 (about damn time with those units), #7227-28, #7229-30, and #7233-34 were the rail cars.

When it comes to cta choosing between picking up all the options for 7000s or whether to get 9000s which is more cost effective and which will get the 2600s off the rails the fastest? Do older railcars damage rail infrastructure? How much damage do you think is being done to the tracks from a lot of the 2600s having flat parts on their wheels pounding the tracks? The brown lines overall structure especially between Armitage and merchandise mart is in really bad shape as it is considering its existed longer than what RPMs replacing.

7000s makes sense. Not worth waiting another 10 years for full production 9000s to kill off the rest of the 2600s

Go back and read the description of the CT Board video, or watch the video yourself. Basically, counsel said that the 7000s are $1.5 million a car now, and with the escalator clause that was approved, option cars would be something like $2 million, but if CTA rebid, over $4 million.

In short, you could have saved a lot of typing by doing your homework.

On the Brown Line question, the North Side Main was rebuilt to some extent about 20 years ago. Allso, unlike LBM, it is not on crumbling embankment. I think you have been reading too many New York subway horror stories.

I’m glad CTA is going that route I was rooting for the 7000s.

Which order is going to get the 2600s off the rails the fastest, picking up all options for the 7000s or getting 9000s?

Looking forward to our August discussion of the same question!

Just spotted 7007-7008 on flatbeds southbound on the 294. Are they going back to the factory for upgrades?

I seen them as well on 294 going southbound while passing ohare I was going northbound. I seen those same two trucks hauling 2 upper number 7200 series this morning they was headed northbound on 294 ironically in the same area

I was lucky enough to drive on 294 around the perfect time to come across something unexpected which was mentioned to see otherwise I wouldn’t know lol. I also spotted those two 7200s as well, we’re both lucky
