And the next garage to get New Flyers is...

77th Garage. A run on route 2 had bus 1212 today, and the windshield even had a "7" sticker.

In other news, at least three Optimas have been delivered to 103rd Garage. Their stay at that garage is likely only temporary, as the plan is to have them run out of Archer, and either North Park or Forest Glen.

Assuming this, even Carole Brown was wrong, and she runs the CTA (and is supposedly in charge). At least I have now learned to stop relying on what makes sense or is equitable, or on sage prognostications by junior high students.

Yeah, if they get the funding for the remaining 620 options. If past trends hold (and again, even Carole doesn't know where they are going) only one more garage for the first 450. 74 and 103 will probably have an average age of 19 before they get anything (if I were betting now, probably 1000s handed down from Archer when it gets 1800s).

I'm not suprised on 77th, because they also got the Nova's when they came out a few years ago.

So now, the question is, how many will they get? Because our guesses on Chicago looks like they're incorrect.

If previous trends are correct 112 or 113 per garage (i.e. the Novas were 117 per garage until the order was expanded a bit for C and FG). Kedzie is probably now a bit short, because scuttlebutt on this forum was that it was getting the hybrids.

The first option of New Flyers has picked up right where the initial order left off. Bus 1249 is now in service out of 77th Garage. A few bus transfers between garages are anticipated (some of which may have already occurred), which will result in a few of the lower numbered 1100s going from Kedzie to Archer, a few of the lower numbered 1200s going from 77th to Kedzie, and the final five Flxibles leaving Archer for 103rd.

Are One Of Those Final Five Flxibles A Cummins?

I guess that depends on your definition of "almost" (and, "only," as well, I suppose).

As of October 6, 77th had:

32 New Flyers

39 NABIs

32 TMCs

52 Flxibles

117 Novas.

5378 Was on the 119 Michigan/119th This Saturday

I saw a NewFlyer on the #9 Ashland route.

Which number was it?

If it's in the high 1200's, then it would be confirmed that 74th Garage would be the next garage to get the new 1000's. (Unless, of course, that New Flyer was on #9 to fill in for a broken-down bus.)

Too many reports of fill-ins on Ashland lately to make the inference of a reassignment. See, for instance, post 3319. You are correct that the number should be reported, but unless it was a high 1200, probably not a training bus (my statement about the Oracle notwithstanding).
