Guest
Im working at the firehouse today 16th/Pulaski observing the Pulaski buses. Saw NF #1413 SB. Its like the old times when 1300/1400s ran on Pulaski in the 1970s when they were fishbowls. I cant wait to see NF #1473 . #1473 was may favorite when it was a GMC fishbowl. You might not see NF #1473 in your area when that bus first arrives on CTA property - or for some time afterwards. #1473 will be part of a group of New Flyers which will be assigned to North Park (the next garage after the Chicago Garage to receive the new buses), judging by the estimated 110 to 120 buses going to each garage. New Flyer #1473 is on target for delivery to the North Park garage later this year -- sometime in October or November. Currently, North Park and 103rd garages are currently receiving simultaneous delivery of the new buses, with even-numbered buses going to 103rd, and odd-numbered buses going to NP. Hopefully it will go to NP. I would certainly grab some pics of it when it arrives. Also , If anyone has seen the news yesterday then you saw New Flyer #1365 involved in a collision with a van at Chicago/Sacramento. There is some good amount of damage to the bus

BusExpert32
i counter that...in his case thankfully it wasn't another TMC I care less for New Flyers and Novas, but Flxibles and TMCs are my favorite buses and really "thankfully it wasn't another TMC". You guys have to be a little bit nicer to qwantae, he is a good bus fan and does give us solid information. Thre is no good reason for picking on him. rmadisonwi
My comment had nothing to do with the type of bus involved in the accident, or what type of bus should or should not have been involved in an accident. It was more along the lines of, there's an accident with injuries and someone's primary concern was whether or not a particular bus was okay. mikeymc77
Considering where the accident took place, its just another good reason not to bring new buses to high crime rate areas. Yes, driving without a license is illegal. Although the majority of the West Side of Chicago probably don't think so.

Guest
North Park is at least up to 1483. I saw that bus operating on the 151 Sheridan Tuesday night. Today is saturday, keep on the lookout for any more deliveries today, especially if youre traveling on the Kennedy/NW Tollway, possible deliveries. Last week I spotted another CT Transit NF bus along I-90 near Huntley. One more thing I cant believe how the 1000s are starting to show bumps and bruises already. Theyre starting to get banged up a bit. Ive seen at least 3 or 4 buses from Kedzie that are banged up already.

Let me know if you do. #1473 was my favorite CTA GMC bus when I was a kid.

Because #1194 was involved in a serious accident back a few months ago, so of course THAT bus would be bad off..
Busjack
According to the Channel 7 report, the bus that whacked the fence on Roosevelt, causing several severe injuries was a 1000, although the number isn't visible in the video. Am I off in saying that it seems like the new equipment is usually what is wrecked?

Buslover88
Am I off in saying that it seems like the new equipment is usually what is wrecked? No, you're correct. Justifies my comment on keeping new buses out of the "ghetto" That sounded a bit racist. Anyway, how are you supposed to do that if all the old buses are being retired? If you do that, then there'll be no buses running, then what happens? And the last time I checked, Roosevelt and Kolmar wasn't a ghetto (to me, ghetto means the projects) area. Guest
Justifies my comment on keeping new buses out of the "ghetto" Its not really a matter of what area of the city buses often get wrecked, it can happen anywhere in Chicago. mikeymc77
When was the last time a Forest Glen or Archer bus was trashed. Nuff said
rmadisonwi
Forest Glen: The wreck last November was the last major one. That bus (6832) is likely scrap.

I happen to live on the West Side and no most people would not think driving without a license is in any way legal. Don't judge a whole section of town based on the actions of some punk who could care less especially if that person may not necessarily live on the West side. As for new equipment being placed in high crime areas, where do you think those buses are going to go considering the CTA ordered 1030 of them?
