Except Huberman and some underlings.

However, I would tend to discount 77, as it doesn't appear that its 4400s are off the roster yet. Again, others have better tabs on that than I.

I'll agree with Busjack about 77th because it does still have a number of 4400s on the roster. I would stick with any of the garages with no or very few 1991 buses left on their rosters on speculations of who's next: more routes from Kedzie, Archer (remainder), routes from Chicago, some more from NP, FG (remainder). The only routes left at 74th to add are the 53AL and 108(am rush). We'd have to wait for 103rd to go live to see 108 go live though as previously noted. BTW, I noticed the run numbers for the AM rush trips of 108 are not included in the list for 74th in the garages section.

To go back to my point a couple of posts back, the presence of 4400s and 5800s would tend to weigh equally against NP, 103, and 77, unless certain buses are limited to certain routes (like 7500s or NFs on 147).

In fact, 77 might be slightly more likely if there is a sudden influx of DE60LFs. However, since our spotter is in Guatemala, which isn't near I-90, I guess we'll have to find that out through other means.

I don't think NP, but remainder of Kedzie, and maybe 151.

If 151 is to go up, then the NP runs of that route have to be up as well. Kedzie primarily operates the Belmont/Sheridan and Belmont/Halsted trips. I wouldn't totally dismiss a couple more routes from NP given NP as well as 103rd are in Round 2 of NF deliveries. It's possible that enough 4400s at NP get replaced in the next 2 1/2 weeks or so (assuming CTA uses 8/25 as the next launch date) to exclude any 4400s on the routes that could go live as has already been done with routes 146 and 147.

  • 2 weeks later...

Are the 4400's and 5800's incompatible with bus tracker? what about the 5300's & 6000's?

Is that the reason why North Park can't get bus tracker yet?

As has been mentioned in numerous previous posts in this thread, 4400s and 5800s never got equipped for Bustracker because of CTA's plans to retire them. A number of 5300s at Chicago garage were equipped for Bustracker before the decision was made not to install the equipment on any more 1991 buses. Yes 6000s are equipped for Bustracker. That's how FG and 74th (being a mostly 6000s garage) were able to go live on Bustracker some months ago (FG in June and 74th in either April or May, can't remember which). NP has had the 146 and 147 on Bustracker for about a month now.

So I think there were some problems with Bustracker before since it had different components installed at different times, with the 1000's and 600's I wonder will it still have different components because of contracts or will they get more compatible parts that won't be prone to failure? (sorry if this has been addressed already BTW.)

OFF TOPIC: How do you view the Pace Bustracker? All I get is a blue screen that says "Siemens Transit Master Webwatch". Do you have to download something?

One could also note that if they were doing so many routes per month, the time to announce August's has passed.

Yes you're right. If they are still doing it like before, this coming Monday, August 25 would be the time the next group of routes should go live. I have yet to see any new signs go up on any bus stops either. Up until last week, I'd still only see the stray signs from last month on the 12 Roosevelt or 148 Clarendon/Michigan Express and a few from the month before that are still on a few 78, 80/X80 and 152 bus stop signs near Lake Shore.

Spotted #6552 yesterday on the #56. Don't know if it was on Bustracker or not. Also a few #5300's from 103rd have made their way to Chicago Garage most likely to retire some #5300's there. Yesterday #5625 was on the #53. A couple days ago #5445 was on the #72 and #5645 was on the #73.

For whatever its worth, the CTA responses to Proposer 1's inquiry is that "CTA will supply" the "Real Time Bus Arrival Prediction System." Thus, it will either be new or recycled CTA equipment.

The problems are that the Clever Devices equipment comes in numerous pieces all powered by the GPS (i.e. the announcement system, the passenger counter, and the prediction system), and the prediction system also needs a Sprint/Nextel cell phone link (which also supports the real time cameras) and server software. So, we can predict that CTA will be taking some parts off old buses, and plugging in new parts into them. But it won't be an integrated system like the Pace Siemens Intelligent Bus System.

Nobody has ever said what the software problem was on some 1700s, why those were different than other parts of the 1000 series, and if Bus Tracker is now up on those buses, even though they do not appear to have been returned to 74th.

1700s are still at 77th. In fact, the "6" garage sticker has been replaced with a "7" on all of the 1700s I have observed over the past week to 10 days (mostly on routes 3,4 and 71). Over that time, I have not noticed any New Flyers on any of the 74th street routes I see daily over that time (55,63 and 75).

Bus Tracker still reflects about 20 1300s and 10 or so 1730s and 1740s on 74 routes. However, it is like 2 buses out of 10 on a route such as 55 or 75.

However, this may be evidence that the 1740s and 1750s not showing up on Bus Tracker aren't coming back to 74 at least in the conceivable future, although the stickers are easy to remove.

From what I observe personally and what I see on Bustracker, 74th has been favoring 9, X9, 44, 47, 52A and 53A with the New Flyers that are currently there.
I guess it depends on when you look. Usually when I look on BusTracker, you are lucky to see 2 NFs on 9 and X9 combined.

At the moment, the only one is 1316 on X9, out of 19 buses on 9 and 11 buses on X9.

Today does seem heavier on 47. You have 1320, 1734, 1736, and 1748 out of 10.

Yeah, for 9 and X9 it does depend on when you look. There are days when NFs are light on those routes. Other days can be a little heavier, especially during rush periods.
