T8H5307A
I saw about three on #53 Pulaski this morning before 7 this morning, but forgot the numbers. I also saw one on #76 Diversey, but unfortunely, I couldn't see the number from where it was. 6080 was on Diversey at 4 o'clock this morning. nflyer22
Saw 6021 on #18 this morning at 7:28 AM on Cermak between Clark and Wentworth, and also another Flxible on the #145 this morning, but I didn't get the number because it just ran by me, couldn't see it. jajuan
According to Bustracker, it looks like 7, 8, 17, 125 and 126 avoided having any 6000s this morning. I found them in service on 12, 18, 38, 52, and 148. 12 only has one this morning. 52 has the most with 5 in service. 148 is using only two. I guess there wasn't much excitement with having so many in operation Monday morning at the 8 am hour. Not sure what's on the 82, 143 and 151 trips out of Kedzie. 134 of course probably used mostly NABIs like the 156 always does. 12 is showing a bunching problem at this hour with 12 buses westbound and only 4 eastbound, with one of those not having yet reached Pulaski and the other three east of Loomis. MetroShadow
6078 on the #72 this morning...which is really weird since this is a first for the 6000's on a Chicago route.
jajuan
6078 on the #72 this morning...which is really weird since this is a first for the 6000's on a Chicago route. This will help explain your sighting. Chicago and Kedzie both swapped 40 NFs each to 74th for 40 6000s over this past weekend. Kedzie swapped 1122-1161 for 6000-6040? (6003 retired), and Chicago swapped 1082-1121 for 6041-6082? (6071 and 6078 retired). Theses 6000s swapped are my estimation of which 80 would be included in the swap when taking into account the three reported retired 6000s in the lower range. So with this swap, 74th now has 110 NFs, 1082-1161 and 1731-1760. 77th returned the 1700s it had from 74th in return for the 1300s 74th had during this same weekend. UPDATE===> I just reread this post and just noticed you unknowingly caught a snafu in the retired 6000s list that I didn't catch. The list says that 6078 is retired, but it can't be if you saw it in service on the 72 this morning. Either way, Kedzie has the lower 40 of the lowest 80 6000s still currently in service and Chicago has the next 40 in numerical sequence. I was aware of the swaps, which had taken place not too long ago (but was reminded, thanks!) It might have been 6076, but would that bus have tracker capabilities so we can get an accurate number? The bus has tracker, but unless on 20 or X20, the route doesn't (I assume you do not have internal capability).
nflyer22
At 3:25 PM saw 6007 make a right turn from Congress onto State and headed south. It has run K027 and still shows its 74th sticker. The external signs show "Kedzie Garage", with a malfunctioning back sign showing '52'. Also saw 6011 when I got back from school working #18 going westbound, probably on the Tracker right now.

Also saw 6011 when I got back from school working #18 going westbound, probably on the Tracker right now. It was heading into service as a 129. It's showing on the Tracker now. It's the only Flxible on that route. The rest are NFs. All but two of the seven buses on 18 are Flxibles. 126 still has none in service today, but interestingly enough it has two NABIs to go along with the NFs that are in service. This month is the first time in a while for NABIs on this route. 6032 is on the 125. That's the first Flxible I observed this week on this route. 12 still only has one Flxible, 6001. 52 dropped to two Flxibles but gained a hybrid 800. 8 picked up one Flxible since this morning for the PM rush, 6023. No Flxibles showing on 7, 17 and 38 either. 148, unsurprisingly, is showing all NABIs and no 40 footers of either model. So with school back in session, this route is back to artics in the PM rush with 40 footers used for AM rush service.

Too bad for you Qwantae and the rest of you who are 6000 fans that Kedzie only puts them on this route on weekdays so far, mostly for rush hour service, and then it's been at most two. Three if you're lucky. So much for Kedzie not using older buses out on the weekend, or as I also refer to them junk. 12 has 6009 in service, 52 has 6020 and 6039, and 126 has 6040. All the other routes in service, from what I could see when I was out this morning and from a check of Bustracker, are using NFs. 82 has to have been using very few 6000s because I haven't seen any on this one yet, and I know with that small rush hour time interval between buses, especially that 5 min interval in the morning rush, there has to have been at least one on this route. Guest
It was very weird to see 6000s on the 53 Pulaski. We were so used to seeing 5300s on Pulaski for many years. If Im not mistaken, 5300s have been on Pulaski since they entered service back in 1991 out of Lawndale gar.

Even though I knew they were coming to Chicago starting Monday (9/15/08), my eyes still got wide as I saw one pull into the terminal on Peterson and Pulaski. ArcherRider
Why I saw a 6000 Flx on #145 and 151 if Kedzie does not use junk bus on the weekend because I did not see a NABI bus on #145 today.

Yes you're right. 53 Pulaski, 54 Cicero, and up until last weekend the 103rd routes that existed in 1991 have consistantly had 5300s operating on them throughout these buses service since 1991. Kedzie doesn't really use NABIs much on the weekends, except for the extra Bears shuttle service on 12 Roosevelt between the Red, Orange and Green Lines and Soldier Field for Bears Sunday home games. I never really saw them used on the 145 except for weekdays since this route was reassigned to Kedzie on 3/23. Plus I already noted that Kedzie steered away from past practice of not using junk on the weekends with the 6000s I noted operating on 12, 52 and 126 this morning. Kedzie stopped using its former TMCs on weekends when they became significantly outnumbered by the NFs with Kedzie's 1600s and 1700s pouring in. Last weekend made it look like it would be the same for the 6000s because they waited until Monday to first start using them. They're still being used very little this weekend though because the routes they are operating on today only have one or two in operation. trainman8119
Kedzie doesn't really use NABIs much on the weekends, On Michigan Ave alone yesteday, between 1 and 2, there was 1 on the 124 and at least 2 on the 151.
jajuan
On Michigan Ave alone yesteday, between 1 and 2, there was 1 on the 124 and at least 2 on the 151. I didn't say they don't get used at all. I said they don't get used much. I'm speaking in terms of numbers compared to how many are used on an average weekday. On weekends that I'm out downtown I'll see probably 3 on average compared to the at least 30-40 out on a weekday. The only times I see a lot of Kedzie NABIs out on the road on a weekend day is on Sundays in the fall when there is a Bears home game and the 12 Roosevelt shuttles are in place or when there is any other special event going on at Soldier Field during the year and there is special 130 service in place for it. Its good to see a 6000 back on that route, plus on weekend too.

I saw a weird thing yesterday. #7550 on the #146 with a run box that showed it was out of 103rd. 103rd was running extras yesterday on the #146 after the bears game that went to State/Lake, but #7550's sign showed it would be traveling to the Berwyn Red line. Also something weird 103rd was running NABI's on the #128. I thought this was Kedzie's route. #7505 was on there as well as #7531 which you could hear a block away.
