chicagopcclcar
According to Sandra Solarte, not only is the Brown Line affected by the bridge detour, but both the Brown and Red Lines are delayed because of bad brakes at Armitage. SB subway past the crossover point at Armitage Tower stopped for yellow parking. Manually released brake calipers in sixth car. Operator walked back to head car. Proceeded...leader at Clark/Division. Time lost......not available. No unofficial Purple line.....extra Red line Browns layup at Clark Tower rather than running back to Howard. Three extras heard. geneking7320
There appeared to be a "back up" of northbound Red Line trains around 18th street yesterday about 5:10 pm. Does anyone know what was up?
chicagopcclcar
What was up....too many trains for too limited a track space. Trains actually became backed up all the way back to 87th Street, standing in stations. A steady supply of trains came in to berth at Roosevelt NB; one from the Red line, one from off the incline, one from the Red line, one from off the incline; and so on. But traffic ahead would not allow the train at Roosevelt to berth unless they applied special rules. Then trains began backing up from Harrison and could not clear the Roosevelt platform for the next NB. This is a policy decision that needs further study by management.
