you have 4042 on the 87 right now running as 87-757

7 (77th) 87 12/30/2021, 3:30 PM - 12/30/2021, 6:10 PM 87 -758 That bus was pulled out this afternoon and the operator probably had no choice but to take it out, I have 87th during the late evenings and usually if not all the times I've pulled out a bus this past month I've asked for 40 footers even when the sign out crew tell that they have #4000's available, Hell I pulled out #1320 yesterday for run on 87th and luckily sign out was nice enough to let me choose whatever I wanted since the spare ratio was bigger for the day. Other times they'll asked if I want to wait for a 40 footer to pull in and I'll gladly do that before taking a #4000 out.  I'm not about to haul this 60 foot bus until 2 am because 87th street gets pretty quiet after 7 pm baring buses aren't missing but keep them on 79th 24/7 along Cottage Grove, 87th moves better with 40 footers.

Guess who's back in the boneyard again...You guess it #1245. #1020,#1168 and #1793 have also popped up back there. #1293 is parked in a different location among retired #6400s. #1904 hasn't moved in several months now sitting next to #6873. I wonder what the story behind that bus is. I'm still shocked to also see #6401 still here as well I thought bus would of been hauled off long ago.

this is telling me spring pick 77th is 100% gonna get rid of their #4000’s since drivers don’t want em anymore

If they don't want them no more then why they ask for them thats stupid

We never wanted them to begin with in 2020, it took a long time for the entire garage to get trained on them. The only reason we got them was due to the pandemic and some operators complaining about passenger counts on 79th being too high to handle. I remember when CBS 2 news did a story on it and then the union got involved along with management.  With things being different now going into 2022 they're not really needed here unless they're used on Cottage Grove and 79th during the day but overnight keep those buses inside the garage. We only have 15 or so left and they are the oldest of the entire fleet of #4000s, so why run them 24/7? We have 92 2014 #7900's to use that can handle excess usage 24/7.

I wonder if an 8th garage could mitigate artic issues at 77th. The other issue is if you run artics you gotta convert the whole line and all of 77ths main routes that qualify would necessitate only having 2, 3, 4, 8, 79 and 87 assigned then making 77th exclusively artic and moving everything else out to help keep the spare ratio up enough to keep them repaired

That would upset a good portion of us if that were to ever happen, including myself. If you have 15 #4000s left just run 7 on 79th and 8 on Cottage until 12 am. Let them get some downtime while using your least used bus fleet at night being the #7900s which are the youngest.

i can see 77th keeping them for the 79 and 4 but i highly doubt they’ll keep em when spring pick comes around like you said 77th can use their 7900’s that are 1000% under 200k miles or possibly some even under 100k the more 77th keeps the 4000’s the more complaints pop up
