The following Orange Line trains are currently sitting in the Harlem Green Line Yard

#2783-2784

#2789-2790

#2791-2856

#2799-2800

#2877-2878

#2883-2884

#2889-2890

#3085-3086

#3093-3094

is there any reason why those cars have traveled to the Green Line yard?

These fleet numbers have now returned back to the midway depot. None were running today.

3111 had a fire at Forest Park and was scrapped. The status of 2980 is unknown.

2980 has derailed towards O’Hare must have went through a bit on what 3061 has gon through when it was removed, I can’t confirm it though. Just my guess

Seems needless since the 3200s will eventually go back to the Brown and Orange Lines when the 2600s are off the Blue Line.

The blue line will eventually get more 7000 series cars and then the 3200 cars will go back to the brown and orange so it is kind of pointless.

Nah, that's been the plan all the time...Blue @ least 400 cars, Brown @ least 160 cars and Orange @ least 160 cars and the remaining 146 cars could be going elsewhere on the system.

The Brandon Johnson comments had more to do with service levels on the West side and NW sides being unequal and nothing to do with the Blue Line receiving 7000s.  As for the 7000s, it seems like the options( cars beyond the initial 400 base order) may not be exercised.  It's possible CTA may instead put out an RFP for a 9000 series set of cars instead.

In the meantime,  supposedly the remaining 3200s on the Brown Line are to be swapped with an equal amount of 2600s.   Once there are enough 7000s to replace all of the Blue Line 2600s, continued deliveries of 7000s will send 3200s back to the Brown line Orange Lines.

The only question would be if CTA has a back up contract with Alstom should things get bad enough with CRRC that CTA would decide to cancel the 7000s and surrender the new cars currently in service?
