Ohhh damn, makes sense. What’s #1218 doing up in the boneyard?

#1451 has a 4-speed transmission rather than a 6-speed like most buses. #1346 is also 4-speed transmission

They must of changed the speeds on them or probably an overhaul. They should originally still have the 6-speed transmission but cut down to 4-speed

Wow I’m just very shocked to find that #1509 had rust issues as it was built on steel frames, thought the steel frames were good enough to prevent that issue compared to the carbon frames 1630-2029 are prone to

Unrelated but I thought #6756 and #6836 were long gone

Some 6400’s haven’t been scrapped yet and still are technically operational just like how #6770 is at the irm.

FG used to have 1798-1803, u missed out on that one month FG had 2000, 2006, and 2025

I remember #1798 shifted from CG to FG and then to NP a few times in 2020.

Was that during the cold snap when 5 had to send some bowling alleys up to fg a few years back? I distinctly remember 2025 on the montrose bus.

#1011 spotted near State Street by Roosevelt, headed southbound on state. Didn’t get a chance to get a pic.

Dam C gave up the 2000's they had 1979-2029 since brand new

Well there was a period when a handful of odd numbered bises starting with 1929 were at 77th while they were new before migrating to C.  I don't remember if the even numbers were at NP first or always at C..  I think everything above 1970 was always at C

#1979 was at K when it retired.

I remember it being 77th and NP splitting the evens and odds in that range, 103rd briefly getting some #2000s (I think evens) before everything settled into C getting everything after #1970. Pretty much stayed that way until the rehabs and larger amounts of newer Novas started displacing the NFs

At this point I feel like everything that’s left between 1631 and 2019 should be at one garage, like they left all the 6400s at Forest Glen till they retired, despite the retirements have basically slowed down and it’s just the lucky group of buses that didn’t rust as fast are still active - I’m surprised at this point that group even made it this far I was expecting them all to be retired by 2025 when the major retirement spree happened around 2023.

They should have been retired by now. The difference with the 6400s was tat the didn't rust, and FG retained mostly 6800s, while if you stick all of what's left of the buses you mentioned at one garage, one part of town will be stuck with buses with no floors. How bad this would be would depend on how many are not retired.

Technically 2021 was when the retirements started to roll in if we wanna count #1870 and some others.

Considering 77th has like 140 new flyers, then that would be a huge loss if they went to another garage till retirement. Unless they got more Novas.

2021 and 2022 was the start, 2023 was the most action packed year where the most buses ended up getting retired, and then it slowed down in 2024 and even slower in 2025, and now in 2026 we still have like 45 left in service

@Erin Mishkin Jr. and I were referring to whatever is left of 1630-2029.

My point was if all 45 were at one garage, that would be about 18% of that garage, and it would be in big trouble if the frames failed. I suppose a garage could cope if, for instance, 8 buses failed.

FG holds the most flyers sitting at 145 and they got rid of 1631-1633, 1653 only to get 1720 and 1832 from NP lol, this is the current numbers of 1000’s per garage

103rd: 35

Kedzie: 61

Forest Glen: 145

North Park: 64

74th: 125

77th: 102

Chicago: 102
