Were you at Midway when you spotted #1567?

Yeah, I took a ride on it. It was on the #59 and the tracker was not showing it coming back east, so I went To Midway to see what happened to it. They like to interline #59's with #55N's or #55A's or even #62H's. I checked all of those and didn't see it. I never even thought of the #63W until I saw it lined up on it's short layover. BTW, #1180, which was on the #60 earlier with a Ventra card reader that wouldn't sign on, has the writing on the accessible seat inserts on the left and wheelchair symbol seat inserts on the right, so #1316 is not alone with this crazy setup. :P

Well, all those routes are part-time routes making it very easy to have them interlined. About #1180 and #1316, I'm really speechless with those unusual setups.

I've checked out the South Shop today to see what's going on with some NF's. After carefully sighting most of the buses (some are stripped of it's decals, lights, and numbers and some are already rehabbed) here are some that are or might be in the rehab process:

Inside the shop: #1108, #1200, #1425 (rehabbed), #1468 (Is there hope?), #1675 (rehabbed), #1722, #1784, #1905, and #1945 (rehabbed)

Outside the shop: #1036, #1051 (either mechanical or fully rehabbed), #1459 (downgraded from fully rehabbed), #1103 (rehabbed but out for testing), #1566, #1582 (already rehabbed), #1595 (already rehabbed), #1631 (rehabbed), and #1998.

Another note: #1378, #1385, #1424, and #1426 are without bike racks and have a red dot sticker on the windshields by the run number boxes. I'm not 100% sure if they're next in line for the rehab but without the bike racks should be a clue.

Except that the engine rehabs were supposed to be done by Cummins NPower or New Flyer. So, the engine bays are open for something else.

That's correct. #1108 and #1425 looks like that they both have some kind of shield on their engines (it might be something else). Any indication if that's new for the rehabs or they've been there since day 1?

Well according to the press release here, and this quote...

Additionally, the contracts call for new and existing personnel at CTA’s South Shops heavy maintenance facility to handle components of the overhauls, including body repair and repainting and the installation of new energy-efficient LED lighting.

This is probably what's going on here at South Shops.

That makes sense.

You're talking about that silver mesh right? Yeah those have been there since day 1. My youtube video of the presentation at Navy Pier takes a look at the engine if you want to see for yourself.

I saw #1998 yesterday on the #74. It must have just come out of south shops cause you said it was there. I thought could it be rehabbed? but no it isn't. It looked like they scraped the kneeling stickers off it and for some reason it got sent back. Maybe Chicago needed it for service or they were just too overcrowded with rehabbed buses at the shops. btw, you said they derehabbed #1459. What did you mean by that? I know both #1459 and #1462 had those orange wraps on them and #1462's has been removed. I don't if it's possible that it was sent down to the shops to remove #1459's wrap or where they do that if that's at the garage or not. #1459 was also back in service yesterday but I didn't see it, just on the tracker.

I've downgraded #1459 status of being fully rehabbed because it doesn't have the kneeling stickers nor the updated no right turn plate (I guess because of the wrap). I'll be outside all day today to check and see if there's any changes.
