sw4400 Posted June 22, 2016 Author Report Posted June 22, 2016 6/22/16 9:41p ***Special Weather Bulletin*** Rail Lines Affected: All Rail Lines Level Of Service Interruption: -- Information: The National Weather Service in Chicago has outlined the Chicago Metro Area with a Significant Severe Weather Event for Wednesday, June 23, 2016.... the primary threats of any Severe Thunderstorms that form could be violent wind gusts of 80 mph, golf ball size hail. I have never seen a TOR:CON(Tornado Condition Index) of a "6" in Chicago before. That indicates a 60% possibility of a Tornado in a 50-mile radius. The Tornadoes that could potentially spawn from these Severe Thunderstorms may be those along the lines of the Rochelle/Fairdale EF-4 Tornado just last year. Rail Service may be impacted depending on the severity of the storms that come through the Chicago Metro Area, and damage may linger for a period after the storms leave. Be Alert!!! Watch the skies and have a safe place to get to should the weather become violent and a Tornado Warning is issued for the Chicago Metro Area tomorrow... Quote

Trains are also bypassing 47th Street Station. This because of ongoing police investigation of a woman's stabbing death on the Red Line at 47th Street. sw4400 Posted June 29, 2016 Author Report Posted June 29, 2016 6/29/16 2:15a Rail Line(s) Affected: Red Level Of Service Interruption: Service Partially Disrupted w/Reroute Information: Howard-bound trains are temporarily rerouted to the elevated lines between Cermak-Chinatown and Fullerton due to a medical emergency on the tracks at Jackson. 95th/Dan Ryan-bound trains are resuming their normal routing, via the subway, bypassing Jackson station. Alternate Service: Shuttle buses are available between Cermak-Chinatown and Fullerton for alternative service. Also consider using the #22 Clark and #29 State as alternative service. Train service to Howard After stopping at Cermak-Chinatown, Howard-bound trains will be diverted and will make the following elevated station stops: Roosevelt (elevated station west of Wabash; accessible) Adams/Wabash Randolph/Wabash State/Lake Clark/Lake (accessible) Merchandise Mart (accessible) Chicago (at Franklin; accessible) Sedgwick (accessible) Armitage (accessible) Then, trains will operate back onto the Red Line at Fullerton and make all normal stops to Howard. Connections can be made between 95th/Dan Ryan-bound subway service and Howard-bound rerouted service via elevated lines at State/Lake (transfer to nearby elevated station, board on Brown Line side) and at Roosevelt (accessible). It's very common on trains than busses but if you see minors or whoever on trains trying to fundraise by asking for money to support their so-called sports teams or other programs then it's a scam. Under state law, it is ILLEGAL from any program or organization to exploit minors to solicit (a felony if it's on CTA or private property) under any circumstances. If you have given them money, then your money just went to waste. 1 Quote
