Like who thought it was a good idea for the Blue or Brown Lines to run 4 cars on the weekends? They didn't ask the operators. Especially when event's are going on in the city. Quote

I don’t see why the green line isn’t mentioned like it wasn’t running 4-cars pre-Covid Quote

Since a lot of fans use the Blue Line and Brown Line and transfer to the Red Line, I imagine that Today and tomorrow will see 8 car consists on the Blue and Brown Lines. Next weekend the Cubs will be at Wrigley and the following weekend is the big parade on the north side Quote

Brown probably won't be 4 cars for a while, orange will be 4 cars when red isn't running over the top and purple probably will only be 4 cars when the cubs aren't playing. Quote

I don’t see the point of the purple line to be 4 car trains when the cubs aren’t playing if trains don’t go downtown on weekends Quote

They used to be, but apparently became 6 car when there were apparently not enough crews to make and cut the consists. The Cubs would be relevant only if crowds transfer at Howard. That's somewhat analogous to extending Yellow Line hours on game nights. But, historically, the justification for extending Evanston shuttle trains was events at Dyche Stadium (Ryan Field). Quote

With so many events (especially in the summer) I wouldn't count on the main lines (red, blue, brown and orange) to honor the cut consists rule 😅. Howard is a consistent mess so that might cut into the time people would have to cut purples. Quote

Car is deemed totaled I thought I saw something, but early reports only dealt with the alert, saying that Yellow Line service was suspended. However, ABC7 just said the collision was at Niles Center Road. With this, the train that struck or was struck by a tree on July 3, and the big wrecks a couple of years ago, it looks like the Yellow Line is decimating the fleet, 2 cars at a time. Quote

Busjack Posted September 27 Report Posted September 27 21 hours ago, Erin Mishkin Jr. said: Derailment According to the Tribune, technically not. "While on its way to the Harlem/Lake station, the train proceeded through a track switch that hadn’t completed its proper alignment, putting front and rear train wheels on separate track segments, the CTA told the Tribune in a statement. The incident was not a derailment, and all train wheels remained on the tracks, according to the statement." Still, the Oak Park police evacuated the train. Sounds like the incident when parts of a train were on different sides of a switch at 59th between Englewood and Jackson Park branches. Quote
