We only have 7245-46 yet to enter service currently.

There's more moves this week as 3285-86, 3377-78, 3419-20, and 3421-22 are now currently on the Brown Line.

U know if the last 16 2600s are part of the moves or not? If not I’ll try to see what’s down there. More than likely I think they’ll end up stored somewhere on the system awaiting disposal or on LTH until further notice once they’re finally off the blue line, as it appears the 3200s are retreating back to their home lines. Spotted 3125 and 3128 the other day in the same train with 3200s in the middle bound for O’Hare.

Should be down to 12 if I'm not mistaking but right now, nothing has changed with the ones that are on storage holds at Howard and Linden Yards.

How long was that? I rode on that unit en route to O’Hare this past May.

Not exactly sure it appears that pair stayed on brown while about 100 or so 3200s were first sent to the blue in 2018 and few more sent during the 2023 moves. I’ve seen a few pictures recent of them. I could be wrong

Is the rate of 3200s going back to the brown gradual like weekly? I’ve been seeing a higher frequency of 8 car consists of 3200s & the majority of my rides on the brown line in the past two weeks have been on 3200s. Or is it like that because Kimball is separating the two series to round some of the 2600s up for retirement?

I don't know  but it seems like more 7000s are in service on the Blue Line which may be why some 3200s are heading back to the Brown Line.   Yet there are still a handful of 2600s on the Blue Line and they are still running in revenue service.   I spotted a pair yesterday evening but I couldn't see the car numbers.

Not sure why the blue line is still hanging onto them especially a small number of them remain. Theres enough 3200s and 7000s to cover service schedules they don’t necessarily need those cars… are they split between rosemont and Desplaines yard? There were reports around the late summer of an 8-car set of them running and was filmed which looked and seemed like they were about to get kicked off the line at some point and yet those same cars from the consist are still there? What is the management doing

That’s what it’s starting to happen, over the weekend while waiting for the Pink Line I’ve seen an Orange Line set of Midway’s oldest assigned 2600s pull into Clark/Lake with cars 2601-02 making up the rear and 3027-28 in the middle of the consist as run #720, those cars were on the Brown Line and they are now currently assigned to Orange. Similar to when the Blue Line sent whatever cars to Midway and replaced cars that are already scrapped it looks like Kimball is doing the same thing as it appears they are slowly sending their 2600s over to retire whatever junk cars are at Midway as they gain its 3200s back from the Blue. We’ll see what happens around the spring

Either that or storage until they meet their maker. I’ve seen a full set of 3200s during the day time pull into State/Lake and a full set of 2600s at night pull into Clark/Lake while I was out Saturday as well.

Considering the bloat those 2600s are probably gonna be retired and scrapped; they probably haven't moved because it isn't worth the effort moving them just to scrap them... Plus it's a Blue Line to wherever so I'm pretty sure no one's to gung-ho to do all of that lol

I can't speak between 2600s amd 3200s. but nothing is going yo move (cerainly not gung ho) unless 7000s start being delivered again.

6 3200 series cars just came over from the blue line to the brown. Couldn’t get all the car numbers but one of them was 3210.

We have some more 2600's back in the blue line from the orange line 2627 is in the shop 2735 is in the north yard the hold track area of the yard which the shop boss last night said their gonna be about for a bit

From what I hear the 7000s are all around really finicky and unreliable in general. Less door problems though!(?)

I hope we get a competent manufacturer for the 9000s (the foamer in me wants Stadlers, but the realist in me expects more siemens crap as we've been seeing across the country).

Earlier in the 7000s thread I asked will cta pick up additional options for 7000s & the answer to that question was based on what would be cheaper for cta. Getting all options of 7000s is cheaper than getting 9000s and gets the 2600s out of here sooner. So I guess cta is going with 7000s forward whenever the production begins again.
