YoungBusLover
I've made a secondary list of buses that have been OOS in the last several weeks or they have broken trackers on them. They're not retired by any means. However, they're OOS. I have seen #1160, #1179, #1787 receiving maintenance in the last several days so that's a positive sign. I did notice #1293 and #1338 were moved to boneyard to accommodate space so I'm not sure how major there issues are. If anyone has seen any of these buses in service feel free to let me know. I guess making separate topics was a no go for the admins, thanks the for no warning heads up by the way..... 1. #1003 back in serivce. 2. #1026 3. #1028 4. #1043 5. #1062 6. #1079 7. #1084 8. #1117 9. #1127 10. #1154 11. #1156 12. #1160 13. #1162 14. #1178 15. #1179 16. #1183 17. #1190 18. #1208 19. #1234 20. #1239 21. #1244 22. #1255 23. #1293 24. #1302 25. #1338 26. #1372 27. #1411 28. #1414 29. #1446 30. #1453 31. #1454 32. #1462 33. #1472 34. #1473 35. #1476 36. #1479 37. #1490 38. #1498 39. #1502 40. #1564 41. #1579 42. #1624 43. #1707 44. #1737 45. #1755 46. #1764 47. #1778 48. #1787 49. #1809 50. #1910 51. #1931 52. #1943 53. #1999

andrethebusman99
A bus is not "retired" until an "Authorization for Retirement" is processed. This can take years these days. Some of the 6000 Flxibles at SS have been there since before 2009 (15 years), were AFR's about 2019, still there with no indication they are leaving any time soon. Nothing was scrapped 2022. CTA has become truly a packrat. As bad as New York Transit circa 1982-83 when they had 1500 buses awaiting scrap sale, but were holding out for better prices. Finally sold the whole bunch for $20 a piece after neighbors started complaining about derelict buses in the streets around every garage.

YoungBusLover
I saw some new editons added to the boneyard recently being #1338, #1706, 1741, & #1894. Notably #1706 was sitting amongst a pile of #6700s which I found to to be a bit odd.
YoungBusLover
I've recently seen #1178 and #2018 in the boneyard, notably on #1178 its been OOS since the early part of March. #1624 and #1730 may see some service soon as they was moved towards the western edge of the boneyard. #1338 is gone but #1298 has taken its place alongside #6755. Erin Mishkin Jr.
About 1/3 of 103rd’s flyers have not run since before noon on July 1st, and only 1179 has showed up on a P route, which led it to south shops. Are any of those 103rd flyers that haven’t run since last week anywhere at south shops?

The rest might be at 103rd still and just haven't run for a multitude of reasons. One thing you have to remember that 103rd has a surplus of buses right now. They can afford to run newer equipment and have a larger spare ratio of elderly buses. Sorta similar to what FG did with there remaining #6800s.
