I was caught by this. Thankfully, it was in the evening at Midway Orange Line terminus. 

Metra ran the Heritage Line. Pace was running the #390 route. I was at Imperial Oak Brwy. in Willow Springs and was engaged by the Argentina v. Cape Verde World Cup 2026 match.

I got the #390 back to Midway, and only then do I learn the CTA #54B route quit at 8:36 pm. 😝 So to the Orange Line it was.

The reconstruction of the bus terminal on the south end of the Western Brown Line appears to be nearly complete. All the ground construction on the north end on Leland Avenue is completed. Larger resting area by the station, new bike lanes & pattern alteration on the traffic signals on Western Avenue and Leland Avenue.

Why do loop bound purple line express trains stand at Clark junction before Belmont station if the brown line train in front is approaching Diversey?  I was on the next brown line train & from train tracker when my train got to Paulina that same purple line express trains was already due at Belmont but my brown line train was given right of way. It’s happened a few times where I loop bound purple line express will stand for prolonged periods of time.

I have only experienced a  very short wait at Clark Junction while a Brown Line passed in front but most of the time it's a straight shot into Belmont. Was there a problem on that Purple Line trains that needed a  police response at Belmont?  Was there a signal ir switching issue?  Was the Purple Line trains somehow ahead of schedule and was held there rather than delaying your Brown Line trains getting into Belmont?

Probably spacing and headways. Also don't forget whatever happens in the Loop can cascade down so might possibly had started there and ripple effected. I know the tower is manned but maybe some priority/algorithm is involved to help keep traffic flow the best

There’s road work being done on Foster by NP, how come the 92 is being rerouted but NPs dead heads can get through the construction zone along with the 93?

the reroute is for the 92, 93 and North Park pull ins/outs……operators not following it is on them

It’s looking like only the 92s are the only operators following the reroute. I even see the 93 still turning to head west on Foster from California & NPs deadheads taking Foster all the way to the garage.

if the 93’s and pull out’s/pull in’s aren’t doing the reroute and something happens like a accident and the manager hears it….it’ll be a procedural violation write up because of the fact they are suppose to follow the service bulletin.

The operative paragraph says, "Video footage from inside the train showed a fight between the dead man and alleged aggressors, the source said. Police said in a statement Tuesday that three unknown suspects pushed the victim from the moving train during an altercation."

But wouldn't the interlocks prevent the doors from opening until the train stopped?

I don't know what the second quoted item means, but to rephrase my question, wouldn't pulling the cherry stop the train?

Pulling the cherry stops the train.  It engages the emergency brakes.  What  Shannon's commt is referring to is people Pulling the cherry AFTER the operator has closed the doors at a station but can't pull off because someone has pulled the cherry.  Sometimes it's people deciding to get off at the last second but usually its someone looking for a drug buy or sale.  This is rampant on the Red Line..

However the aggressors didn't necessarily have to pull the cherry  to push the victim off the train.  There should be video evidence whether they did or not or the force of the victim being hit or thrown on the door caused the doors to give way and open.  Though I haven't heard this happening on the 5000s specifically,  there's been a history of train doors opening mid route with little to no pressure applied to the doors.  Hence the announcement  " Standing Passengers please do not lean against the foors."

ABC7: 15-year-old girl charged with pushing man off CTA train to his death.  Also "CPD did not immediately say whether they have identified the two other suspects in his death."

The real question is what happened to 15-year-old girls that they would do something like this?

Lack of parental presence, desensitization to violence in their in environment, a whole bunch of reasons made up in their head about why what they do is justified vs taking accountability. An aversion to being called out on their action and a habit of deflecting if the person calling them out is another race or demographic ; those of us that grown fatigued of the stuff that goes on in the hood and want better are called coons 🫩

Add to that the feminization of the culture.   Lack of patriarchal authority is encouraged in relation to matriarchal authority and the rule of emotions and the lack of discipline.   The culture encourages juvenile crime because juveniles eill be treated with leniency.
