pokemonprime Posted October 27 Report Posted October 27 Former CTA #1011 in it's second life as a work bus was downtown this weekend. Spotted earlier this afternoon outside Adams/Wabash, but it was also around Saturday night. Quote
Busjack Posted October 30 Report Posted October 30 Tribune: "Man found underneath Brown Line tracks fell from moving train in Lakeview: autopsy" "Chicago police said they found the 26-year-old man, whose identity hadn’t been released, on the ground unresponsive in the 3400 block of North Ashland Avenue around 2:40 p.m. Monday." "It was unclear exactly how the accidental fall occurred. The spot where the victim’s body was discovered sits underneath Brown Line tracks and several blocks from the nearest train station."." Quote

Actually, it's just one long block from the Paulina station. My guess is he was drunk, went onto the tracks at Paulina & then manged to walk on the ties & then fell off. Quote

I was thinking more along the lines of a NY subway car roof surfer, but I don't think the police will ever find out. Quote

I've never heard of the roof surfing here. It appears to be a NYC problem, exclusively. They don't even try it on those few 3200s that still have the roof boards leftover from when the Swift had the pan trolley poles. Quote

I remember asking someone if their trains shake/tilt and bounce as bad as they do here cause that alone is probably enough to make people not try that here. Can you imagine trying to maintain balance on top of a Red Line roaring between Belmont and Fullerton? There are some jogs that you don't really slow down that much Quote

Seeing the article again, the headline was "fell from a moving train," which is where I got the surfing idea. I don't know how the medical examiner could tell. Maybe there were some train scraps on the body. Quote

Balanced between cars, even. Quote

Javi75 Posted November 4 Report Posted November 4 Why are blue line trains only running to UIC? No Forest Park trains at all on the tracker. Quote

Probably the same reason Purple Line expresses arrivals show up off peak or on the Dan Ryan. The map shows them more or less alternating as usual Quote
18thalek Posted November 7 Report Posted November 7 anyone have any pictures of the 54 or 53 with articulated busses back during COVID? I remember riding those two routes during that time and I kinda miss the artics. Couldn't find any pictures online Quote

I truly can't think of a reason for that. When I was a little kid, maybe about 10 or 12 years ago, I remember seeing artics on Archer and, I want to say Kedzie(?), in hingsight, i would presume that was for Kelly and Curie HS trips. I wonder when they stopped doing those. Quote
