So it’s just the 53/53A changes that’s moved to August? Or is it all of them? Which ones are set take effect in June?

Ain’t that screenshot from the Frequent Network page, for the dates of starting increased frequency on those routes? I was referring to the route extensions.

Yes it is. The FBN of 4, 20, 49 and 66  and the route extensions of the N4, 54B, N66 and 93 will go in effect 6/25.

The FBN of the 53, 55, 77 and 82 will go in effect 8/25. In addition, the 53, N53, 53A and 82 route extensions and/or modifications will go in effect at the same time.

I also believe that the 18, 73 & 147 will have service times extended daily and the 157 will have weekday service times extended as well on 8/25.

Looks like the seasonal Memorial Day to Labor Day services (10, 124 (later service) & 130) starts this weekend and the weekday Beach Service (35, 63, 72 & 78) starts Monday June 9th, 2025. So maybe the summer pick starts Sunday June 8th, 2025.

That's more in line with recent June picks, which do indeed align with weekday service to the beaches.

2022: Sun June 12

2023: Sun June 4

2024: Sun June 9

Interestingly, MSI doesn't advertise the #10 bus on their website even though they pay for it.

https://www.msichicago.org/visit/getting-here

it doesn't show the IC station either.  My guess is that multi-billionaire Griffin doesn't want the great unwashed to sully the place he paid to stick his name on, even though Julius Rosenwald who founded the museum with his own money flat out refused to allow his name on the building!

I was heading home visiting my cousin who’s in town for attending UIC in the fall, and I stumbled onto this when I got off the #18 at 18th & Ashland, new updated bus sign but now says “late evening” instead of “mid-evening”.

If I recall, the #18 was one if the few bus routes getting extended hours in the fall pick (August). But seeing this here, guess it means #18 will be getting its hours extended in the summer pick? Or they just prepping 2 months early? 😅

Would kinda make sense for a summer roll out. 18 passes a lot of summer generators and festivals like riot fest or whatever music festival goes on over that way plus the canal street/Roosevelt corridor

I gotta check if the 4/N4 Cottage Grove bus stop sign had been updated.

So these are the last two weekday runs on Cottage and they pretty much confirm the changes to the overnight N4 service.

With the state not giving more money to RTA, are all these planned improvements just going to disappear into the mists? RTA talking 40 percent service cuts, not improvement.

You obviously did not read the topics on replace the RTA orb Fiscal Cliff, including that the Covid money lasts through 2025, the legislature can go back into session, etc. Nor do you remember 2008,

This isn't Arizona or Nevada or wherever now you are in isolation.

Wow didn't think the OWLs would be pulling in from downtown. Is this something that started when they changed how the night cars are sent out or have some runs always done this?

I guess you are referring to Run 7459, which is at Wash-State at  3:33 and PULLIN at 3:58 after over 9 hours of work. It's probably easier to deadhead on the Dan Ryan than to go local. Also, the other run (7458) indicates that the last stop before PULLIN is 95/Red Line, not 79th, so if 7459 had to do that, that would add another half hour. Also note that 7458 pulls out directly from 77th Garage to Wash/State, so it, in effect, is the reverse of 7459.

Essentially the night cars are revamped in a sense, service runs 24/7 on all the OWL routes. The examples shown above in regards to 458 and 459 being the last two runs of the night start earlier and pull in earlier than traditional OWL runs did in the past , 401 and 402 pull out around the same time to keep service active. The old night cars would generally start around 20:30 and terminate around 5:30 - 6:30 am as shown below.

I don't know if you have info about the 74th runs, but we previously established that the front and back ends of N9 were interlined with regular 9s. Will that no longer be the case?

From what I saw yesterday while making a brief pitstop over there they appear to still be interlined with the later scheduled PM runs that start around 9 PM and end around 4:30 am. I'll try to double check and source out there run guides for next pick as the RUN paddles usually get sent out later.

From the schedule it looks like 9 after 10PM in the week the last Ravenswood trips go to the red line, then short turn at NB at 74th to pull in; weekends those runs end at the day time terminal then head back north to 74th. @jajuan says the run numbers started at 6070 vs 6090 after they redid the night schedule outside of that looks like wasn't too much changed. On that note I'm curious about N5 too since they wanted to start night cars at 2AM which I figured couldn't happen at 103rd due to the 106 not running late

Taken at the Cicero/24th Place terminal, and the SW corner of Ogden/Central Park.

It was already know the #54B was to be having its northern terminus point permanently relocated to the 54th/Cermak Pink Line station in the summer pick but with the #157’s updated sign stating “mid-evening” instead of “early evening”, it indicates like with #18 bus it will be having its service hours extended in this month’s pick too instead of August (Fall pick).
