This one hits me as the most interesting. Llewelyn mentioned that there is a transit gap south of Pershing because the only bridge over the canal is Central Ave., but by routing the bus south of Morton College via this route instead of looping back will take care of it.

Funny that - he originally proposed (years back) that 330 go to Midway.

315 is the right route out of that cluster to go to MDW, and for the right reason - that transit gap is definitely noticeable.

315’s extension to Midway Airport is definitely the interesting one at that. Although I would’ve considered having it travel down Central Avenue between 39th & 63rd, then 63rd to Cicero and Cicero to 59th, adding some services along Central Avenue but that’s just me.

Also, does anyone feel that 213 could use some Sunday/Holiday service?

The 213 situation is currently unfeasible due to the hours of the North Shore Division: closed on Sundays and holidays. That division currently operates all trips on the 213, unlike the 215 which is split between NS and NW of which NW operates all Sunday trips.

Ahh, I see. I was not aware the NSG was closed on Sundays. My bad

47th hasn't had service along that corridor since 1992, and 63rd has existing service bisected by Archer.

This is predicated on that sufficient staff now exists. If there isn't enough staff needed to run 213 and 215  Sundays out of NS (and yet there is enough need to keep NS open on Saturday to run just these two routes), Pace could just go to the old Nortran model of running them out of Des Plaines. But current business hours would not make this "unfeasible."

Since they also discussed "changing pieces of work," they could interline 213 with 208. There are already too many 208 deadheads to and from Evanston.

In my preceding response, I didn't realize that this was based on a hypothetical, so I'll take another jab at this.

Taking into account Jarrett Walker's view that Sunday should be as extensive as most of the week, it's a valid question. But there's also the UP-N line and Purple Line parallel to it and Northbrook Court being dead. I would survey potential riders first. My conception is that the ridership is mostly service workers, but I may be mistaken.

The Press Release reminded me that we forgot the most important service resumption--the Wrigley Field Express buses will be back. Chairman Kwasneski stated that the buses will be packed when the Savannah Bananas are at Wrigley Field; July 24-26.

Heck, that's the only ball that filled the stands at The Rate  in 2025!!!

That was also the sole reason to see baseball there for the last few years.  The home team is appallingly awful, because the owner is also awful!

I can understand why the 315 was chosen but I would think the 330 would have been a better choice.    This would have been a one seat ride to Midway instead of a transfer to the 62H at Harlem/ Archer.   While the 315 could eliminate one transfer, i think the 330 could capture a larger point of Midway riders.   Plus the 54B extension to Cermak/54 provides an alternative for some potential 315 riders.

330 wouldn't take care of the problem that there is now nothing in the Stickney area. 307 does cross the canal, and 315 is east of there' 330 is west of there.

This being the primary motivation, I'll agree with @artthouwill that the main issue is whether Pace really wants to duplicate 62H, as 62 and 62H provide service in that corridor. Futhermore, 330 does nothing to provide access to Midway from Oak Park, Cicero, Berwyn, and Stickney.

330 could always do what the 386 (and old 381) do.

Re: midway access, were the rumors of eliminating the 54B and extending the 54 to midway just rumors? Not that I’m against the 315 extension, but that move would’ve partially solved the problem of midway access for all of those communities bar Stickney

In reverse order:

  • Eliminating 54B is within the scope of the "[Speculative]" CTA topic, and since it hasn't been implemented, is still speculative.
  • But maybe you want to do the same thing and eliminate 62H, but Pace hasn't shown any inclination to do that. Since the March changes are just pilots, anything else would be presented to the NITA board, which gets into the realm of the "[Speculative] Possible NITA planning" topic.

Operator error. It's the 330, not the 331. Carry on.

If this is you saying you made a mistake (if not, then disregard), I didn’t realize lol, I took it at face value and thought “dang, even the 331 got the nod to midway over the 330” and then my post lol

Here's another take; cut 63W and reroute 330 via 63rd. The coordination from the decrowding plan looks like it was undone so that could be addressed by having 330 and 386 operating in tandem to provide the 30 min headways. Looking at the departure times for today I see a 386 leaving pretty much 3-8 min behind a 63W so that would handle that issue.

Well ... As others said, the areas are kinda physically separated so there's no one size fits all for that; ALSO this is indirectly a partial revival of 47A for people west of Cicero that lost service years back

Since Route 330 has almost nothing to do with this topic, why not just embrace the grid and run it from Antioch to Frankfort? 😁

They used to release them a couple of days in advance to their assigned effective date. Don’t know why they stop 😓

On another note; 213, 507 and 755’s new schedules are up!
