This really makes me sad. These are the last buses that CTA has that have any soul. Yeah, it's great that Chicago's going to be a New Flyer town...but still... :(

Looks like what remains of the front of 4455 in the middle of the picture. Am I right? Plus the scattered remains of possibly this bus or some other deceased bus in the top and middle parts of the pile. I made out some seats scattered about and a window frame down below the front of the frame.

I just got back from another trip down to 92/Ewing. The pic in my last post your looking at is all that remains of TMC #4455 in the middle of that huge pile and you can spot many bus parts in this shot too, it shocked the hell out of me!. It looks like the death of bus #4455! I do have many more photos to share and they are just as sad to view. Although if there was any good out of this, I was fortunate to meet one of the scrappers who worked there. After I dropped off my scrap metal, he gave me permission to view the buses after I identifed myself to him. I let him know I was a former CTA bus driver. I told him I drove a couple of these buses and he had a real good attitude about it. I asked if I could take some photos and he told me "take as many as you want!". He was very friendly, so friendly in fact he let me go right up to the buses awaiting their final trip to the scrapper. What an awful site to see, a graveyard dosent even begin to describe it. He also tells me that he expects more buses to be shipped there next week, possibly wed or thur. By the way Flxible #5456 and TMC 4514 are gone, theyve been scrapped. I plan to make more trips there next week.

Here are TMC #4523,#4643 and #4669. #4479 is just out of the picture on the right. The buses that are here currently are #4439,4417,4479,4643,4669,4523,4502,4524 and #4443. The sight of #4523 just sad? There are two more TMC buses, I was unable to get their numbers. There were no Flxibles on the property today.

It appears that they get the tires and axles off first, but I wonder how they sort the big pile, especially since the TMCs, unlike others, have fiberglass shells.

Then, again, the newspapers had pictures about 11 years ago of New Looks stacked up in the junk yard.

I also remember when TMC advertised that 97% of the RTS were still on the road, but that would be expected given the 12 year FTA service life. One wonders what the percentage is today.
