venom_20 Posted August 14, 2005 Report Posted August 14, 2005 I have a little question that's off topic. Does anyone know what only bus that HotWheels had in it's collection? Totally trivial. Hint: they portayed it as a school bus. Quote
RIPTA42 Posted August 15, 2005 Report Posted August 15, 2005 Royal Coach produced, of all things, a CTA Orion V. I'm not sure if the Road Champs die-cast Flxibles ever came in CTA colors; if they did, it would have had wrong taillights. Hot Wheels made an RTS-03 that came in three varieties: school bus, transit bus, and transit bus with graffiti. They also came out with a customized Crown(?) Old Look school bus about two years ago. Matchbox has made a couple of London double-deckers, and I've seen Majorette Neoplans from Europe. Quote
venom_20 Posted August 16, 2005 Report Posted August 16, 2005 dam, i didn't think that anyone would get that. Oh well, I was really talking about the rts-03, so you had it right. Plus, I wanna see the crown(?) that you're talking about. Quote
inkybus Posted August 16, 2005 Report Posted August 16, 2005 I would go for any 1:18 scale buses... Quote
RailBus63 Posted September 22, 2005 Report Posted September 22, 2005 I'm not sure if the Road Champs die-cast Flxibles ever came in CTA colors; if they did, it would have had wrong taillights. Yes, Road Champs did issue a Flxible Metro in CTA colors. I'm not sure how accurate the fleet number or other details are, but it looks nice. Jim Quote
RailBus63 Posted September 24, 2005 Report Posted September 24, 2005 I found my Road Champs CTA bus. It looks pretty good, but there are a few discrepancies. First, it should be noted that all Road Champs Flxibles have a Sutrak-type air conditioner on the roof, which obviously CTA's buses do not have. The logos and the stripes on the side and around the back look good, but the front and back doors are all black (typical of Road Champs bus models with the black windows). Also, there is no red around the front headlights. The bus is numbered 5741, but the number only appears on the back. The destination sign in front reads '125 WATERTOWER', and there is a '125' in the route number indicator box in the back. Sorry - I don't have a digital camera or I'd take a picture and post it here. Buslover88 Posted September 25, 2005 Report Posted September 25, 2005 Where can you get this for me? I need In Playmobil: TMC RTS (4400 Series) Flxible Metro(5300 & 6000) Series New Flyer DLF (5900) Series NOVABus LFS (6400-6708) Series NABI (7500-7620) Series I need this from my Bus Fleet. If you can't get them, that's okay. I'll get a picture of a 8000's (What I call them) Volo Quote

RIPTA42 Posted September 26, 2005 Report Posted September 26, 2005 Royal Coach produced, of all things, a CTA Orion V... I'll try to get a picture of it up. The headsign says "66 CHICAGO," and the side destination sign reads "08 CHICAGO" (??). In the meantime, here's the prototype... Quote
Buslover88 Posted September 26, 2005 Report Posted September 26, 2005 Then again, I could just make my Fleet out of Cardboard. :-( Quote
RailBus63 Posted September 27, 2005 Report Posted September 27, 2005 I'll try to get a picture of it up. The headsign says "66 CHICAGO," and the side destination sign reads "08 CHICAGO" (??). In the meantime, here's the prototype... Heh. What movie did that bus appear in? JD Quote
RIPTA42 Posted September 29, 2005 Report Posted September 29, 2005 Damn, you're good. It's Oakville Transit 903, and if you look closely, you can see the outline of NYCTA decals. There's a partial list of movies and commercials that have used Oakville buses and lots of photos at Felix Tse's Greater Toronto Bus Page at NA Transit. Quote
RailBus63 Posted September 29, 2005 Report Posted September 29, 2005 The funny thing is, that barely-visible NYCT logo was apparently supposed to be a Chicago bus! Quote
RIPTA42 Posted September 29, 2005 Report Posted September 29, 2005 You're right; it is the "TCA" logo under the white wrap. I guess if we still had interurbans running over the 'L' into Waukegam and Aurora, it could have been the Illinois Transit Authority... Quote
geneking7320 Posted September 30, 2005 Report Posted September 30, 2005 The funny thing is, that barely-visible NYCT logo was apparently supposed to be a Chicago bus! I think the above picture makes a decent argument for the CTA to get rid of the gray "rocker panel" on its buses. Quote
RailBus63 Posted October 5, 2005 Report Posted October 5, 2005 I think the above picture makes a decent argument for the CTA to get rid of the gray "rocker panel" on its buses. And replace the red, white and blue with classic CTA green while you're at it. Too many cities have gone RWB. There's a precedent for this - for its new and rebuilt buses Boston's MBTA has returned to its full yellow band first introduced in 1972. Jim Quote
jesi2282 Posted March 9, 2006 Report Posted March 9, 2006 Hey Guys, I have found what I think is a model of a New Flyer[5800] model bus on eBay, there is a bunch of them on sale, there about $30.00. Quote
RailBus63 Posted March 10, 2006 Report Posted March 10, 2006 Those are the Road Champs Flxible Metro buses described above. When they were new, I remember seeing tons of these buses for three and four bucks at toy stores and drug stores - sure wish now that I had picked up a bunch of them back then! Jim Quote
CTA 9537 Posted March 12, 2006 Report Posted March 12, 2006 http://cgi.ebay.com/CTA-Low-Floor-Model-Bu...1QQcmdZViewItem Here is the liknk to the bus you are talking about jesi2282 you are right its looks like a 5800. Quote
Busjack Posted March 13, 2006 Report Posted March 13, 2006 The maker's link indicates that he has a generic NABI CNG model that he paints with various logos, even if the transit authority (CTA, NYCTA) doesn't use them. Quote
RIPTA42 Posted April 18, 2006 Report Posted April 18, 2006 Royal Coach also makes an RTS in CTA colors, but it's an RTS-04/06, not an RTS-08. Quote
RIPTA42 Posted November 6, 2006 Report Posted November 6, 2006 I just picked up an HO-scale MAN SL202 by Wiking. It isn't identical to the Americana - it's slightly longer, has a rear window, non-opening side windows, wide center door, and European-style headlamps - but would make a pretty easy conversion for someone who is talented with modelling putty. Quote
MetroShadow Posted November 6, 2006 Report Posted November 6, 2006 Now how in the world did you pick up a MAN bus? For me personally, i picked up a NABI CTA and a NABI Pace Bus. The NABI is designed to look like a New Flyer, but I can tell the differences. Quote
RIPTA42 Posted November 6, 2006 Report Posted November 6, 2006 Now how in the world did you pick up a MAN bus? I didn't; I picked up a model of one. A whole bus would be too heavy. Quote
