More Bus Moves

So far this morning 77th has received #8344, #8403,#8410, #8449, #8461, #8470, #8471, #8481, #8613, #8621, #8655, #8678, #8680 & #8688 from FG. I wonder if those 7900's are up there as a result. My speculation about them getting moved up there all year may be coming true. Hardly any 7900s are active this morning outside of 10 currently, the day is still young though so we'll see how things progress towards Monday morning.

Which Garage will these 8 be relocated?

Well good morning guys. I clocked into work and saw those 8 buses sitting in the lot. Lol we do not like older nova‘a they are very jerky. I was hoping we would receive Chicago avenue Flyers (1930+ and up)

Welp you know how the rest of this weekend is about to go for FG. Out with the new and in with the old. As I was heading into 77th I saw two shop guys pulling out #7986 and #7993 en route to FG perhaps?

1013 is at P on #155  and   #4166 at K on #21 #4017 is at P on #22 #1015 went to P and #4104 to K

So, so far another swapout of D40LFs between K and NP in exchange for artics except in reverse of the previous one. Well with the 21 being bumped up to be more artic run like the 12 and K having a lot of school trip work, it's not like they're not needed or won't be put to good use. Oh the 4017 move indicates a bit of mileage balancing of artics as well.

4015 to 4018 are north park, I caught 4015 this morning

4014 has been out of service for months.

4019 and 4021 may have moved

4007 moved so 4008 might have also went back to north park

4022 is running on 103rd routes.

so far 1099 1078 1081 and 1083 have moved to 103rd. Ik 1082 has a new farebox so it’ll be interesting to see if they move it or not, meaning 103rd might be next to get the new fareboxes.

So 103rd got a few D40s back. I haven't ridden very many 8700s yet, so I ask those who are more in the know if the newest 8350s are being equipped with the newer farebox upfront. Or are they being loaded with the older ones for the time being until the boxes spread out to the next relevant garage?

I think it depends on how many new fareboxes each garage has. The buses in the 87## span on which I've rode did not have the new farebox. Yesterday though, I was on 1880 (North Park) and it had the new farebox.

It appears Forest Glen sent three of its 8325s to 77th. A clutch of low 1000 New Flyers went from Kedzie to North Park.

Would someone concur that Forest Glen will get an equal number of new Nova 87##s to be able to retire its New Flyers 1630-1663?

FG has unloaded a lot of their 8350’s alongside #8343-#8349 to 77th as i write this #7990 and #7991 are at FG and #8720 is at 77th as well only a few DNC 86’s and 87’s came back to their garages while the very low 87’s are yet to be seen anywhere

Mileage swap for 77th's #7900s was the pushing force for them to get moved to FG in exchange for lower millage #8350s. As far as the #8600/#8700s are concerned one of these garages outside of NP will eventually have to spread out the Flyers they have left. Cough cough 74th,77th and C.

The ones at Chicago and Kedzie have gotten new fareboxes.

1082 is sitting at Howard station right now so 1082 isn’t moving - so whatever didn’t get a new farebox between 1078 and 1099 there now at north park goes to 103rd.

So I just got some more insight on the 7900s situation for 77th. Basically SS has been putting some work into them before shipping them up north to FG, the details regard a fresh paint job among other miscellaneous things. All in all the overall work orders for maintenance combined with the #1000s are taking its toll on 77th to som degree so with these moves of newer equipment the amount of work orders will go down in theory. Also It appears that we'll be trading most if not the remaining 89 of #7900s to FG and another garage in exchange for the 8340s, 8350s - #8700s in splits rather than whole blocks. FG was over crowded with new equipment thus the moves. However, NP is still an odd ball out. So far 77th has about 40 - 45 newer #8350s so hopefully that number can reach 89 before Monday or at least the end of the year.

No that's not what he's saying. He said a trade with FG and another garage. So he's not saying FG is losing all its 8350s. But more of them plus 8350s from another garage are possibly getting moved to 77th. Plus he's not even saying all the remaining 7900s at 77th are moving. From what I'm understanding him saying, a sizable chunk are likely moving with a small potential but no solid guarantee for it to be all of them.

Is FG in the danger of losing all of the entire 8350s completely?

If what he mentioned actually plays out, looks like.
