This is due to structural improvements to remove slow zones and improve rail service on the Brown Line as part of the Ravenswood Connector Rehabilitation Project. sw4400 Posted October 19, 2014 Author Report Share Posted October 19, 2014 10/19/14 4:07p Construction Alert Effective 10/20/14 @ 1a until 12/22/14 in the a.m(time TBD) Rail Line(s) Affected: Blue Level Of Service Interruption: Temporary Station Closure Information: Damen will close effective 1a on 10/20/14 for the next 63 days. Blue Line train service will be available from adjacent stations at Western and Division. Alternate Service: Passengers can use the #56 Milwaukee bus to reach Western and Division. Additional buses will be added to weekday rush hour service between Damen and Downtown(Southbound in the morning, Northbound in the evening). Overnight service will be provided on the new N56 Damen Station Owl route during the closure, to provide connecting service to the nearest stations in either direction of the closed Damen station. Alternate Service: Shuttle Buses will replace rail service between Roosevelt and 35th-Bronzeville-IIT. Free transfer between Shuttle Buses and Rail Service is only available at Roosevelt and 35th-Bronzeville-IIT, and requires the farecard used to pay your fare at the start of your trip. garmon757 Posted November 8, 2014 Report Share Posted November 8, 2014 I encourage anyone not to take the Brown Line until later on this evening. There are multiple delays due to two sets of single track operation making this line unreliable. My train is currently running express from Southport to Western. I don't know where this single track operation came from between Southport and Clark Street Junction. The Red Line would be the best alternative even though expect a little more time to your travel.
