garmon757 Posted August 10, 2014 Report Share Posted August 10, 2014 8/10/14 1:09a Upcoming Rail Alert For 8/10/14 @ 6:30a until 7p Rail Line(s) Affected: Brown Level Of Service Interruption: Minor Delays Information: Trains in both directions will operate on the same track between Fullerton and Sedgwick.6:30a-12p: Board/Exit all trains on the Loop-bound platform at the Armitage station.12p-7p: Board/Exit all trains on the Kimball-bound platform at the Armitage station.This is due to structural improvements to remove slow zones and improve rail service on the Brown Line as part of the Ravenswood Connector Rehabilitation Project.This has to be one of the most weirdest single-track operations in a while because I'm on the Brown Line now and so far, they're having northbound trains - crossing the Larrabee/Sedgwick crossover - reverse/divert the trains back to Sedgwick by switching them to the inbound/southbound track - then having them crossing the crossover again without switching! The Blue Line curse strikes again.Sadly enough that I was on that damn train with that problem this morning. Idk what happened that lead to that but the first 3 cars were inside the portal but the jacked up part was that they reversed the train back to UIC-Halsted and the conductor said that the train was going out of service. However, 30 seconds later the conductor said hold on and told us to get back on the defected train and continue the route to O'Hare. Alternate Service: Shuttle Buses replace rail service between Western and Kimball. Work will last from 10pm on Friday to 4am on Monday. Free shuttle bus service is available between Logan Sq. and Clark/Lake. Alternate Service: Shuttle Buses will replace rail service between Roosevelt and 35th-Bronzeville-IIT. Free transfer between Shuttle Buses and Rail Service is only available at Roosevelt and 35th-Bronzeville-IIT, and requires the farecard used to pay your fare at the start of your trip.
