I'm not surprised... I guess it was the Eisenhower's turn to get flooded out (after the flooding on 190 near O'Hare last month). It looked as though there was some damage to the roadway at Des Plaines Road or 1st Ave (I forgot what they said on Channel 7 this morning).

Blue Line service is temporarily delayed between Harlem/Congress and Forest Park due to a derailment. There are shuttle buses, but trains between the two stations are still running on a limited basis.

Take 5750's statements that they are intentionally letting the Blue Line equipment go into disrepair, and a couple of more incidents, including this derailment and the prior ghost train, I'm smelling a campaign to raise taxes to pay for the Forest Park replacement.

You think that all of the incidents that happened on the Blue Line over the last year were intentional? Sure, the "Ghost Train" and O'Hare incidents were cases of incompetent workers, but minor derailments like this one could not been have forced to happen.

Nobody said that the incidents were intentional.

However, what I think will be said that the backlog on maintenance is so bad that the failure to keep up the infrastructure on the Blue Line will again bring out people like Preckwinkle intentionally asking for a tax increase.

The 5750 reference was only to what I interpret as his point that CTA for some reason has intentionally put the oldest equipment on the Blue Line.

And, of course, somebody is still blocked. The rest of you can read my posts more closely before posting.

Blue Line service is temporarily delayed between Harlem/Congress and Forest Park due to a derailment. There are shuttle buses, but trains between the two stations are still running on a limited basis.

The derailment is still affecting service as of 4:23 PM. The original statement made by the CTA is below.

"Blue Line trains are experiencing delays to due a minor derailment at Forest Park.

As a result, trains are operating in two sections:

  • between O'Hare and Harlem (Forest Park Branch), via downtown, and,
  • between Harlem (Forest Park Branch) and Forest Park, with limited service.

Change trains at Harlem on the Forest Park Branch for continuing train service to Forest Park.

Shuttle buses are also available to provide connecting service through the affected area between Harlem on the Forest Park Branch and Forest Park.

See station personnel for further assistance, and pay attention to announcements on trains and at stations for service information.

We are working to restore service as quickly as possible. Allow extra travel time."
