Looks like Pace South has started installing their new fare boxes in its buses.   The fare boxes seem about 6 inches lower than the old ones.

Could the fare boxes be smaller because fewer people pay with cash? I don't know how often they remove the cash from the fare boxes.  Should be less cash to steal.

I'm sure it is whatever SPX Genfare has available.

Looks like most of the 2600s not recently seen are being sold for scrap. Some seem pretty low mileage, but the newest is 2010, so I guess they met the service life requirements. Those such at Niles and HP are not on the list, so I guess they are stuck with what they have.

To answer  another question, there are some NABIs on this list.

2600-2800s not just age, and mileage, but simply unneeded as most routes they ran on are gone.

I wasn't commenting on why Pace listed them, but on why they only attracted bids of this nature.

You also don't seem to have an explaination for why Highland Park's buses were swapped for some that had only seen contract service, but Niles is stuck with what it has had (2601, 2640-2649).

Niles buses have special lettering for their service, Niles probably does not want to pay for lettering a new set of buses.

Again, you have been out of town too long. As @mel bernero reported in 2017 and I visually confirmed, they put a wrap over the original decals. They can wrap some other buses.

What I find  interesting about this:

RTAMS said with reference to the 30=foot bus order:

Quote

A total of 67 buses have been ordered to date. The first order consisted of 23 buses, all of which are in service. These were delayed due to the COVID-19 crisis. The second order consisted of 44 buses. All of the buses under the second order were received, with the final bus delivered in February 2023. The buses service the areas currently serviced by Fox Valley and Batavia.

Last Updated 06.22.2023

Since Batavia itself isn't served, this must refer to MV Batavia, meaning that the 44 22300s were originally intended to replace roughly 2702-2741, give or take a couple. However, the first 22 went to Heritage, apparently so that Plainfield would get a new local fleet. That should have been enough, but wasn't (by 4 by this count). In the meantime,, this left River with 11 older 30-ft buses, which probably will stay that way until the garage work is done, as previously mentioned, maybe in 2028. As North is starting slowly with an electric fleet, maybe the intent at River is also to start slowly, with replacing these 11 buses, before touching the highway buses. I never believed that MV would get new buses, but 2745 2747 2750 must have been better maintained at H than the buses that were assigned to Naperville that were just sold.

If you had read the correct topic, it being at SW on 381 is not news, although it probably was never assigned to N.

@andrethebusman99's question was answered in the right place two months ago.

Wasnt the bus on a show and tell tour I believe it was in Lake county now was it ever permanently assigned to North or only temp

I think it spent time  as a Demo around Pace HQ which was before the purchase.  I also think it spent a little time at Plainfield,  but I don't remember them using it for revenue service.
