#5411-5414 are at skokie shops for rehabs, so purple is using some extras off the red.

I believe 5705 -5706 are being used on the Purple Line tor the moment as well.

3203-04, 3219-20, 3325-26 and 3341-42 are on the Brown Line

Are you saying that 3200s are beginning to transfer from the Blue Line to the Brown Line,?  Pretty interesting since I still saw some 2600s on the Blue Line a few days ago

Well they were down to 20 and we've questioned numerous times if Blue would need to keep 400 cars as the fleet age lowers.... If there is bloat and CTA's ready to slim that down then those 2600s might just go straight to scrap from the blue line which might explain why they started on the 3200s.

I’ve saw 3073-74 in a consist bound for O’Hare with the rest all 3200s, we’re down to around 16 cars left now. It’s odd to see 3200s begin to get transferred back to their home lines before the last of the 2600s get removed. Seems like CTA is having a hard time removing the remainder of them, but yet last year yall were quick to store them OOS.

I believe that 5709 - 5710 is on loan to the Purple Line as I saw it yesterday evening passing me by @ Morse.

Since RPY are from Howard Yard, and all Howard Yard cars have RPY maps for this reason, what's the surprise?

Well for a time, Red Line equipment had stopped being loaned to Purple Line when they were short on equipment per mgmt but it has been using 5700's for a few months now.

It was but they had a few pieces of Red Equipment. 5699-5700, which returned back to Red about 3 weeks now, 5705 - 5706, 5707 - 5708 and now 5709 - 5710. 5411 -5414 was being repaired at Skokie Shops but they have since returned back to the Purple Line. I believe more Purple Line equipment are being repaired or rehabbed.

Heck I'm kinda surprised it hasn't happened sooner and more often to balance milage considering how much 5400s sit around being Purple Line cars.

Since the pandemic. CTA has drastically cut down on coupling and uncomplicated cars except in the yard for maintenance reasons.

1644 cars is rudiculous, and it looks like they retired maybe 66 2600s while receiving 248 7000s.

Perhaps an (over)abundance of caution  based on having to pull 5000s out of service while equipping the Green Line with them.  CTA didn't want to be caught off guard if an issue arise with the 7000s.

Here's an MMIS assignment report I received from a FOIA request, as well as lifecycle info in a spreadsheet.

How are they even fitting 450 cars on the Blue Line? Even after the 2600s and 3200s get scrapped once all 7000s are here we're still gonna have 1580, nearly 400 increase compared to before the 5000s arrived. What is all the bloat for outside of the Red Line extension and maybe the 8 extra trains enabled by the Belmont Bypass? That's about 148 cars, I don't think a Blue Line increase would require much, most likely those would concentrate between Jeff and UIC; maybe all they want to have a lot of spares since these are very heavy lines? The math isn't too far off if these are spares for that.

They've put 96 2600s into long-term hold in 98th, 61st, and Midway yards for staging for retirement, I presume. So they're working on retiring more
