Aiden Tabucic
5 hours ago, Busjack said: But as the Final Report indicates, that's 11.000 hours to serve 63 passengers (note they count both boardings and alightings). Maybe half of that if it only goes to Touhy, but 54 runs every 9-11 or 8-10 minutes while 54A runs every 30 minutes rush hour only, so the service hours balloon unless 2/3 still turn at Montrose. That kind of connection isn't worth anything. I don't know how crowded Jeff Park gets adding 215 and 641 (225 is a wash with 226 and Pulse is maybe 2 buses an hour over 270), but X54 used to go there, and 56A no longer does. I bet with 215 scheduled 20 minutes peak, 641 every 30 minutes, several Pace routes will share the same bay. But, in any event, reading the Final Report indicates that CTA's only concern is saving vehicle hours. Nothing wrong with that. While Pace might listen to something compelling at the hearings, CTA won't listen to anything. But since Touhy and Cicero is in Lincolnwood, it shouldn't. They Should Add The X54 Back Between Jeff Park And Cicero/Grand Metra Station

However, the question is whether CTA is interested (it appears not) or only wants to save all of the 11,000 service hours. And if you really meant Cicero Ave. to Touhy, CTA certainly has no interest in serving that.If you meant on Central between Foster and Touhy. that seems adequately covered by 85A and the revamped 225. Obviously the ta's around here feel there are more people riding Cicero from Jeff pk then there are riders on Cicero itself. I dont see the big deal in running a 54 express to jeff from montrose cicero or better yet have pace serve montrose and cicero with the off edens plan at wilson back on the kennedy at montrose. Why they didnt fund a shoulder lane to wilson is a real head scratcher. While some think this is silly it isn't any worse than going to jeff which already has 225 serving lincolnwood and skokie. Otherwise, it would fit better in either the topic related to the return of the X9 and X49 or that speaking on bringing back dead routes and route segments in general. renardo870
Any feedback from the meeting in Evanston on April 24 regarding the discontinuance of CTA Route 205 and the restructuring of Pace 208 and 213?

I doubt there is any. CTA is not listening to anyone (especially since Pace is taking over the route), and the only thing possibly of concern to Pace riders in Phase I would be any of them between Winnetka and Glencoe (lower frequency) or service cut in Highland Park (Pace isn't going to accommodate 22 riders a day). There might be more action at the time for a hearing on Phase II.
CircleSeven
CTA released the slide presentation from that hearing last Tuesday (4/24).

Seems like the first time they said something explicit about Highland Park. Also, the alternatives part seems real redundant, but maybe the consultants' intent was to head off adverse comments.

The video can be summarized as that while the Evanston city council wanted to get the duplicative bus services off the street, there were a lot of comments that the plan didn't sufficiently describe how students from SE Evanston would get to and from ETHS, especially with regard to bus frequency and seats and after school activities. Apparently saying that Pace would maintain school trips wasn't sufficient and I can see how having 205 going directly on Church and Chicago Ave. to Howard differs from having 213 going only on Green Bay and Chicago Ave. It was also said that this would incur increased costs for Pace, but should also generate more ridership on Chicago Ave., but Pace has to come up with a service plan for ETHS and price out the cost increase, and another hearing is probably necessary, but Pace and CTA would have to do something by summer to have the new service plan in place when school activities start. Apparently I goofed when I thought the comments directed to Pace would be on where Pace was cutting, but nothing was said about that. CircleSeven
Looks like CTA & Pace has came up with new proposal to serve ETHS students. From the City of Evanston website posted Thursday, the Draft Proposal calls for six morning & afternoon trips (in peak direction) to ETHS, instead of just one AM & PM trip. One of the six trips will be a "rerouted" CTA #206 from the Howard Red Line to ETHS via Chicago Ave.

What the linked article pointed out, the other 5 trips are to be provided by Pace, which, as Pace indicated at the board meeting, involves a lot of additional resources. Also, while the method of interlining isn't indicated, and Evanston notes that service on Chicago St. goes up from every 20 minutes to 15, the implication is that service between Church St. and Winnetka goes down from 20 to 30, and to Highland Park from 40 to 60, at least during these hours, unless Pace announces that it is doing something different. Busjack
Ordinance adopting Phase 1 is on the June 13 Board Meeting agenda. Looks like they didn't go to a second round of hearings on it, as was indicated in the May Board video. Parallel CTA agenda item on 205. Busjack
Only thing that came up in the meeting (aside from that only ETHS, city of Evanston, and New Trier count) is that Pace will implement it in the August pick, while CTA's pick is in Sept. So, we'll have to see if there is duplicate service for a couple of weeks.

No surprise on the timing since you and I both acknowledged that CTA times the summer and fall pick changes to line up with the end and start of the CPS school year. And I agree with you that that couple of weeks should be interesting.
renardo870
So what is going to happen to service from Howard/Evanston to the Cook County Courthouse since Route 205 will be discontinued? Will the 97 Skokie or 201 Central/Ridge service be extended from Old Orchard to the Cook County Courthouse during the weekday? Not too much has been mentioned about that. Kill it & let the incompetent county run a really small shuttle bus from Old Orchard to the courthouse, like the ones Niles used years ago for its free shuttle. It's the county that put the courthouse in such a stupid location & then had to completely tear down & rebuild the parking garage, because the incompetent builder did such a rotten job, it fell apart in about 15 years. The courthouse should've been near the Dempster Swift station, there was a bankrupt & vacant car dealer just west of it then.

Disregarding the intervening irrelevant comment, the last Board Meeting video had someone ask that,so that you can check if that person got a response. In any event, present or future route 422 will serve it once an hour.I bet Pace's answer will be the same as it was when the routing of 208 via the courthouse was changed to straight via Golf--transfer at Old Orchard. From the sounds of things so far, outside of @Busjack's point about the 422 still serving it, CTA will still provide service during weekday rush periods through the 54A until such time that route is replaced by Pace's future 641 Edens BOS route.
