BusHunter
East, from the north end of the platform, looking towards Sheridan. Your not the only one who's confused, I'm wondering where's the plaza also. (you can see good details of the picture if you zoom up the image) Maybe they still intend to demolish the old buildings there or there won't be a plaza!! Like I said before it's different from the rendering. There is another empty lot on the corner of Sheridan/Albion north of the station. (see picture) But the old buildings pictured next to the steel going in seem to be in the way of the plaza. I think somehow the plans have changed!! Your not the only one who's confused, I'm wondering where's the plaza also..... From this Google Map, the plaza is at the location of the blue triangle just north of the station (next to the bus stop sign). If this picture was taken from the north end of the platform, it would be at least a block north of that (try this street view showing the front of a 2 story brick building). BusHunter
If you compare your googlemaps picture with yesterdays picture from me, the building with the parallelogram roof is demolished and the steel is going up where the 6 or 7 garbage cans are in the lot next to the two story building on Sheridan The albion/sheridan picture that I uploaded today shows a freshly leveled lot, but the two story building is still there, so that's why I asked where the plaza? Do you understand what l'm saying now?

Do you understand what l'm saying now? The plaza is supposed to be where the McDonald's was. As I noted, there is a blue triangle on Sheridan just north of the station. I assume that's the roof of the McDonald's building before it was demolished. Just north of there seems to be a vacated street right of way even with Loyola Ave. extended. Then I assume there is the parallelogram roof building to which you are referring as being demolished. North of that is the building in which the map enlarged says Bruno's Lounge. I assume your picture is the back of Bruno's. Hence, the steel is between Bruno's and Loyola Ave. and is undoubtedly for the Loyola U apartment building. When I clicked on Google Map maker, I got a later image with more demolition (but I canceled my Google+ account because I was getting porn spam, so I can't go ahead with it). However, I'll use a paint program on the most recent image to show what I mean: The plaza would be the triangle I indicated with the red outline. BusHunter
If that's the case that's really small. They're lucky if that's two lots in size (speaking in terms of property of course) how do they expect to put a plaza in there? That's basically the McDonald's footprint. BusHunter
That is correct. That's two lots more than they had, and a grant only goes so far. Yeah, but that rendering's http://www.transitchicago.com/loyola/ way off. The plaza will be lucky if it goes to the bus shelter shown. Maybe no one will remember what it's supposed to look like, but you have to wonder if Loyola University manipulated the rendering to get they're project in the plan. (since when do active participants in a construction project make the rendering) Seems they are benefiting the most out of the project. Sounds kind of fishy to me. Most of the grant went to Loyola, and I think Kevin O'Neil said that the renderings were theirs. The second one, also cited in the story about the apartment building, seems more to scale. Of course, it isn't going to be served by a 4400 series bus, either.
ChicagoNova
I'm riding 5269 right now, and blue is my favorite color. I'm just not entertained by the vandalism on the window leading to the cab.
See Tea Eh
I find it ironic that the self-appointed thread police has decided to carry on such an extended off-topic discussion in a thread about 5000-series deliveries.

BusHunter
At least we're talking about a line that will have them. People on the NW side are still wondering what is the 5000 series?
sw4400
Back to the pink interiors in cars 5521-5560. How about those 5600's with neon yellow wall paint and red LED lighting... I can think of the ideal song for the introduction of this series... here What'cha gonna do when the 5600's roll past you, Brother???
artthouwill
Let's assign Busjack's 5521 - 5560 to the Pink Line Sw's 5600s neon yellow to the Yellow Line. We need some green interiors, like those of the 100s and 300s and 8700s CTA buses to go on the Green Line. Let's put 5269 - 5300 on the Blue Line. Let's put 5269 - 5300 on the Blue Line. The CTA would never assign interior colors to its "L" cars to match the color coded lines. That would permanently restrict them in assigning cars to routes and adjusting car assignments. Lets be real people. A system like the "T" in Boston with only three routes can color identify its equipment. Their cars on the Orange line are orange, the Blue line blue, and the Red line, red. But their cars are incapable of operating on other routes, so they're bought for and permanently assigned each route.

BusHunter
#5155-56 has been assigned to the yellow line this week. I don't know if it's going to stay there, or if it's a trainer, the Xmas train (#2890's) have disappeared off the line. I haven't seen them in two weeks. Since there are no Yellow line pictures with the new color signs, I snapped a few pictures.

chicagopcclcar
In t5hat they have the Swift, which isn't a standard font character, I assume they had to use something like a paint program. Nice touch, though. I've tried to tell you that the 5000 LED rollsigns are not standard programmable signs. They are more pictures of the mylar signs than scripts. Others have tried too. But you've locked yourself in that stupid dungeon surrounded by that idiotic "signature" saying "This post is hidden"....How is it "hidden"? We can see it can't we? What's not "hidden" is stupidity...grow up. The difficulty of reprogramming is one major reason why the specs of the 3200 programmable LED roll signs is different than the original 5000 signs. Instead of making enemies, you need to be making friends. Maybe people would be more willing to converse with you and exchange information, if they can.

I think BusHunter may be onto something that those specific cars have to be used for some other task, in that there are still over 200 2600s (other than the over 300 now undoubtedly on the Blue Line) that could have been shifted. As regards any present running of 5000s on the Yellow line, try to account for the number of crew members. Only one person driving the train, its regular assignment. An instructor with or without an xtra operator or two.....training train in service. With the Red line and Howard Street having over a year of experience with the new 5000s, all extra board personnel should be 5000-qualified by now. Yeah, if they want to borrow out cars, like there is no regular equipment now for the yellow line, they need to start shifting 5000's over to the Yellow and Purple line, because soon they won't have red line 2600's to borrow out.. i'm assuming now the yellow line can borrow 5000's, but the purple line can't. I mean someone can put those on the Purple line but they're not supposed to. Only the higher up personnel can authorize that. That will soon be changing.
