ABC7 I-Team interview with the Police Superintendent (apparently video not posted). Near the end: :He also said that could include CPD officers on CTA trains."

I guess I was not off base.

Imma be real if CPD wanted to they could have officers in trains but here is the thing they got law breakers out here worried about no front plate instead of worrying about violent crime or crime on the cta do an emergency act have them stop worrying about petty shit & real things that is a danger & maybe crime will drop maybe but the law breakers can't be everywhere everytime still

Like this fool Tommy who pushed the man on the Harlem trains a week after the lady was set on fire he set this lady on fire at ohare after i pulled in lucky my girl & another co worker saw it & put her out before it grew the law breaking police came but they ass didn't arrest him & weeks later he pushed the man in the tracks at harlem tgat fell on tge law breaking police who didn't do shit & started disrespecting my girl when she started getting on their ass

Its not the safe t act its the judges who wont hold them mfs you charged with a violent crime & you have violence in your background a judge should hold you but its left up to the judges & some of em just don't care they get paid to put people on the band thats the problem its a kickback somewhere in the crooked courts just follow the money

If you read my previous comments, I flat out blame the incompetent political hacks Madigan inflicted on the Cook County courts!

Plus of course Preckwinkle inflicted that other total incompetent Kim Foxx as state's attorney & she didn't believe in jailing anyone, unless of course they threw a root beer at her!

Its not none of them again its falls on the crooked judges ive seen so many cases where the crooked state asked for a mf to be held & the judge disagrees so it falls on the just just follow the money im sure you will see where the judges getting kick backs the judges grant what they want no matter what the crooked DA ask for so it on the judge not the crooked mfs in office not the crooked DA the crooked judge is the one to blame

I don't thinl ot is money, because a guy like this is indigent, but the judges in bond court are associat judges appointed by politically slated elected circuit judges. Kaybe jaded or subject to the views of his political sponsors, but this judge clearly didn't understand that this person  was a serial threat to the community. The person was also in xmental health facility, but it apparently couldn't get the job done..

The plan reported was that CTA would hire about 40 more off-duty po;ice officers and a little more private K-9 security officers.

Anyway,FTA rejected the CTA plan, and WGN reported that iCRA would again reply to FRA.It is not like CPD assigned officers to transit detail.

In related news on WGN, someone just set himself on fire on he Blue Line at Damen and Milwaukee.

i was sent this article by a friend, a proposal for eliminating stops along various bus routes in the city. what does everyone think about this? i certainly think there could be some stops eliminated, but another friend of mine who works for the city thinks it'd be bad for accessibility.

https://citythatworks.substack.com/p/a-plan-for-faster-buses

There are definitely far too many stops on the Inner Drive, no need for them at every street, just every 100 street numbers or an eighth of a mile apart as on all the other routes.

And why does the Clark bus stop SB at Elm, nut not NB? The same for the almost never used 3930 stop for SB Clark. I know it's in front of the senior building, but move the Irving park stop to the south side of Irving park & eliminate that, as again, no NB stop there, too dangerous for the old people to cross there.

Same reasons subways have closer placed stops downtown and other densely populated areas. Since there are so many riders if you eliminated stops you'd just have bigger crowds at the remaining stops so the dwell times would negate the time saved ending up with the same renunning times and also create dangerous conditions similar to a crowded L platform. So as counterintuitive as it seems this is safer.  If it was rainy or snowy someone could slip in front of a bus. That's why when they cut 9 and 49 stops they were in areas with less dense populations. Medical district and heavy parts of the Northside didn't lose as many stops.

ABC7: "A shooting on a CTA train in the Loop left one man dead and another wounded Tuesday morning ...The shooting took place at about 1:22 a.m.: on a Pink Line train at Washington and Wells.

The Safety Plan is really working 😀.

Well I encountered a couple of buses that apparently have broken trackers. I'm currently on 1440 on the 22, but it's not showing up on BusTracker. 8085 is currently on the X9 but also not tracking. I ended up riding its follower 1530 since that's what appeared on BusTracker.

The same thing happened to me yesterday around 11AM.  The Ventra app said & had a 27 minute wait for a NB Clark at Balmoral & one showed up less than 7 minutes later.

FWIW (not much) WGN Investigates whether CTA is doing enough with its safety plan--mostly video by a woman riding the Blue Line from Jefferson Park of a man spitting and coughing on others. Apparently she can't get no satisfaction from the CTA.

Watching the video now.  If WGN really wanted to get a glimpse of what is going on,  the South Side Red Line is the perfect line to observe.  Drug dealing, weed smokes. homeless people riding.  What's amazing is the amount of people who don't even bother to ask for a ride on the buses.  They just walk past the Ventra reader and firebox and sit down.

There's not enough police officers available to combat the fare evaders, smokers, dealers, etc.

It's a safety plan, so

  • If CTA doesn't care about fare evasion, nobody else does.
  • Smoking: At the Jan. Board meeting, the Innovation Lab presented a proposal for HEPA filters. I think one of the directors asked about enforcing the rules, but it did not go past there.
  • Safety does include drugs, not to mention assaults. Cops on the trains would deter that, but what CTA has said is inadequate.

I see that anytime I ride the #4 from the Loop to 58th or back.

On the 4 Cottage Grove why is the destination Illinois Center if the bus never gets to Illinois Center until after it heads back southbound. Wouldn’t Blue Cross Blue Shield Building make more sense for that routes destination since the bus terminates at the front door of Blue Cross Blue Shield?

BCBS isn't paying for the advertisement, and people know where Illinois Center is.

Maybe it should say Columbus-Randolph brcause that's what the schedule says, but it is on the wrong side from the buildings on the north side of Randolph.

I think the schedule is underinclusive, because you can ride north of there.

I could be wrong but if I remember correctly   the original terminus for the 4 was Wabash,/Washington  back when the route ran in both directions on Wabash.   When Wabash became a one way,  the route was moved to Michigan Ave and shared the birth terminal with the 4 which had Michigan and Lake as its terminus.  Both routes were changed to terminate at Illinois Centrr via (Lower  Randolph  and Columbus. I don't remember when the 4 changed to use upper Randolph and Upper Columbus  instead.  Technically it still serves Illinois Center as there's a building at upper Columbus and South Water.  So it serves Two Prudential Plaza and the Fairmont Hotel.   I think Illinois Center still works well since there are at least three buildings and one is on Columbus.   For reference,  the 122 and 123 began and ended facing northbound on lower Columbus Drive before turning west onto Lower Wacker Drive.

Actually it was Garland Court, although the sign only said 4 COTTAGE-DOWNTOWN.

Then that sign changed to Washington and Wabash.   You are correct that the layover was northbound on Garland Ct between Washington and Randolph.

Well then how about a 2 line sign Illinois Ctr(top) via Randolph/Columbus? Or if that's too hard to read include Randolph/Columbus on a flip before Illinois Center and it'd be like the 3 with Chicago.

Te thing about CTA is they are consistently inconsistent.   The 20 Madison eastern terminal during nourish periods is Millennium Park while the 56 Milwaukee sig says Washington and Michigan.   Both routes end at the same place

Don't get me started on the 34.

I don't think CTA will change the 4.

Being at the curb, I would argue that the sign should be at the northernmost point, which would be Illinois Center instead of Randolph/Columbus. It seems like the timetables rely on layover points. It could be argued that my position is inconsistent with my position on Devon/Ashland, except it is consistent with my view that what is recognizable counts.
