BusExpert32
Buses arent the cause of accidents, drivers cause accidents. And in some of these cases, the passengers have been disturbing or attacking the bus driver; therefore, causing an accident.
Buslover88
BusExpert32: Maybe if you and rmadisonwi didn't jump down my throat so much back there, then I would have stayed with my opinion, but no, I just had to be bashed again. Oh well. Anyway, NP only has 9 Optimas? So that's why I haven't seen any on a NP route yet. To continue about the New Flyers, does anybody know the highest number in service and/or just here? busfan4022
I seen 1497 on Western the other day, and I rode 1472 on the 14.
RIPTA42
Anyway, NP only has 9 Optimas? So that's why I haven't seen any on a NP route yet. Try the Evanston routes, the 93, and the 11 on weekends.
Busjack
205 seems to be the best bet. They don't seem to be run on 201, even though Ridge Ave. is too narrow for a regular bus to stay in one lane.
BusExpert32
Does anyone know how many 4400s and 5300s 103rd Garage still has in service?
busfan4022
They should put those Optimas on the 97. >:X 'Cuz like, it's low ridership. D: There aren't really many 5300s left. They still have alot of those 4400 though. Guaranteed to see on the 15.

qwantae
I have spotted #1506 Yesterday afternoon running #14 Jeff Exp. Northbound on Michigan/ Van Buren.
sw4400
I saw 4401 deadheading from North Park on Kedzie yesterday. When it is deadheading 'from' a garage, does that mean that it's just going on a route, or is it possibly going to 77th & Perry for scrapping? "Deadheading" in its strictest term means going direct from one place to another without passengers. For example, you could deadhead from the garage to the start of a route, deadhead from one end of the line to an intermediate point, or deadhead from one garage to another. And, you don't necessarily have to be on a bus to deadhead. Pace drivers often deadhead in company cars or paratransit buses from the garage to their pick-up point, either at a terminal or midroute relief point. And at one time, although I am not sure it is still done, you could see many drivers deadheading on the 85 from Forest Glen to Jeff Park (as an example). You would see that when operators would park at the garage, relieve at the terminal and have a pull in at the end of the day. In this case, I would think 4401 was heading to/from the garage, seeing as it was on Kedzie (someplace). If you would have seen that bus on the Kennedy/Dan Ryan or 79th street, then I would think it possible it was on its way to its retirement party. Yah, you're right. 4400 is out of North Park still and I spotted it and took a photo of it on the #151 a couple of weeks ago.
busfan4022
If you would also like to know: 6400 is still here. It is at 77th 1000, 1002 is still here both at Archer. 6000 is here. It is at 103rd (Also the bus that first had the new logo at 103rd.)
jesi2282
I saw 5300 last summer on Lake Shore Drive on the X28, It left a long heavy trail of black smoke, it looked pretty beat up.

Most likely retired, judging by what you saw last summer. Chicago, Kedzie, and 103rd are the last buses to have Flxible(5300's). X28 I believe is a 103rd route, but I'm not sure. Has anybody seen 5300 in the last month and a half?

I have also seen it in, I think, a month or two ago on the South Chicago route.. A high probability that it is retired. Most likely gone a week or two before the first 1000 appeared at the garage. I'm not a 100% sure, but you can always try and check for it. o.o;
BusExpert32
About 103rd's 5300s, it still has #5625 running; saw it today at State and Adams although it was not service. Destination sign read "103rd garage". About Kedzie's 5300s, I finally saw a few of them on the #82 Kimball/Homan today. A couple were #5709 and #5614. I wasn't expecting to see them, but there they were. Also a few 4400s, 1000s, and a couple of 7500s were in the mix on the #82.

I believe 5300 has been gone, havent seen it since Spring, I used to see that one everyday in my neighborhood and it did looked pretty bad shape and yes I did see that black SMOKE. But, I did see 4400 ran #151 couple weeks ago and 5302 on #28 3 weeks ago. And last september 2006, I've seen 5301 on a tow truck on Stony Island, It was probably on their way to scrap at 77th, it was seen burned down on the rear of bus.
