And the next garage to get New Flyers is...

I dunno. Try scrolling up and reading.

Busjack if you are trying to prove a point, instead of helping the spam, why not help stop it. By, you know, saying something about the New Flyers. We didn't stray that far, some of the posts dealed with them.

Anyone seen a number higher than 1507 yet?

I saw 1511 on #11. It had an ad wrap that said chicagobus.org. The place for chicagobus enthusiasts to go!!! j/k.... Seriously though, to make Busjack understand why we 'strayed' from New Flyer conversation.... these buses are all linked to the retirement of the 4400's and 5300's, so in most posters' minds, this is probably the best place to say one or two things about the retired or about to be retired buses(while waiting for more sightings of newer New Flyers). If it offends you, I'm sure we're all sorry.... Busjack. <_<

Start a new thread with that title, then.

Why can't you do it? You are the only one bothered by it.

Surely there must be something in your life to keep you occupied, than pestering us. ]:

Or maybe not. :D

Can't be... 1497 is a NP bus. Archer has over 100 New Flyers, why are they getting more from the latest batches being sent to NP and 103rd? Archer is entirely Low Floor and up to date in terms of age in fleet.

I never said it was on route 49. Most likely one of those 11 Lincoln buses that I see every morning. (Usually a 5800 or a TMC. They always are heading down Western at the time I saw the 1000)

Ok ok, Archer is definitely not recieving any more New Flyers at this time. And when we're tslking about Western, you have to take into consideration at the #11 and #49B both operate on a portion of Western and they are both out of North Park.

I have to say Im liking the New Flyers. I guess this is what we have to contend with. The industry is changing, the age of the traditional style transit bus is dying. Dont get me wrong, Low floors still suck!

But some models honestly do not look that bad at all. But they will never have the menacing, tough looking image like that of the GMC Old Look, Fishbowl, Flxible Metros, TMC RTS, Flyers and Orion style buses built over the last 50 years. That will forever live, as long as we keep it alive!

I saw #1515 on #22 Clark at Adams & Clark with a broken bus sign on the bus.

Its interesting how many New Flyers 1000 have broken destination signs. Even #1431 (the first 1400 delivered to North Park) had a broken sign when I saw it in early October. But even though North Park has around 50 New Flyers now, I'm still happy to be seeing so many 4400s operating out there on their routes. But this "Doomsday" scenerio would disrupt this whole thing with delivery and a faster retirement and all. I'm still believing there will be no doomsday; just because I'm such a huge fan of the 4400s and of the very few 5300s left; so I'm trying to believe it won't happen. And when Monday comes, I will either be here sitting in disgust at Doomsday #1, or I'll be here proving my point that these drastic service cuts, fare increases, employee layoffs, and garage closings are just unacceptable for the CTA; I mean if Chicago wants a promising Olympic bid because obviously a city needs to have an appropriate transit system to host such a great honor such as the 2016 Summer Olympics. It would look bleek indeed. This is also why I don't understand everyone's enthusiasm in predicting garage closings when nothing has happened yet. Don't take me wrong here, but does everyone really want there to be service cuts and garage closings? It's really a drastic thing that may never be reversed. Well I for one am bidding against any Doomsday scenerio on Monday for these very reasons.

You will be sitting at your computer in disgust on Monday because the cuts are this point very likely. Do you actually think we're happy about betting on which garages will close? I probably speak for the rest of the board when I say I am outraged at the cuts. Do you watch the news or read online stories? If you don't, then start, because everything is trying to spell it out for you. Sorry if you don't think the cuts will happen.

Yes, the news and online stories do indeed mention the CTa's transit funding crisis, but each story ends with a positive story saying that a new funding plan approval is close to finished; therefore, I am still believing what they say about it. I don't know if you're happy or not, but betting on it mean's that if you lose it you'll be mad, but happy that the CTA's crisis didn't go that far. That's why I chose to bet on no cuts or garage closings. And here's my opinion on what you said, the cuts will not happen.

Why would I be mad over losing a bet like that? You really need to get your facts straight. Do you really think those "last statements" on the stories are true? I don't. I only think the lawmakers are trying to soothe the passengers because they're scared to face the facts, like you.

I'm not scared to face reality. I'll be facing it when it actually occurs. The point is, it hasn't happened yet.

Can we at least keep the flame wars consolidated to one thread?

I suppose you're right. I should have replied to BusExpert32 in only that other thread. Anyway, what's the highest New Flyer number at NP or 103rd as of today? Also, does anyone know when the orders for those two garages stop? I'm interested to see who gets the New Flyers next.

I saw #1332 this morning on #76 with a broken sign. The sign was blank and a paper in the window said "76 Diversey to Sheridan"

I saw 1461 on Devon a few weeks ago with front and side destination signs and taillights out. The rear destination sign was working.

North Park and 103rd will probably still be recieving New Flyers for a few months. Long time until that point. And those broken destination signs on the New Flyers really bug me too. So many have broken ones that it's becoming easier to rely on 4400s for working destinations. Not proper wording, but being on at least, not just completely blank.

I don't want to start a new thread to ask this question so please bear with me.

Does it seem strange to you folks that CTA has so many destination sign problems on buses which are relatively new?

Yes I do. I rode 1452 on the X28 Stony Express Wednesday. It's destination sign was stuck on 15 Jeffery Local indicating a destination of 47th/Red Line station. It had a paper sign to indicate it was an X28. I thought it was weird considering 103rd and North Park's Flyers are new. I also saw that it had it's '03' garage identification sticker on the front windshield. Other Flyers I observed on the X28 Wednesday were 1470, 1484, 1486, 1506 and 1514.

A side note for the Cummins 1991 Flxibles, I rode 5746 operating as a 12 Roosevelt this afternoon. It's the second time in as many weeks that I remember riding this bus on that route. From earlier posts in the thread I started relating to this bus, it's the last of the Cummins Flxibles
