Guest
NP is taking the odds again so it was probably a 22 or 36 bus today if it was in service. It would be NP if its odd numbered so most likely it was a 22 or a 36.
sw4400
I saw 1769 on #11 yesterday. Also last night while riding my bike, I almost was sure I saw a NF on Addison. It's back was all white and I saw the two led lights on the top near the darkened route number display in the back as it stopped near Addison and Lincoln WB. As it passed me, the engine sounded just like a 1000-Series NF. Anyone else see a NF on Addison last night after 9p?

I remember when the Americanas were still around, I would see NP Americanas running on Addison during the summer time on weekdays during rush hour and early evening in the mid 90s. They weren't school trips for Lane Tech or any of the other high schools because as stated this was summertime. They were regular FG runs operated by Americanas from NP and sometimes from Kedzie. And because this was during the 90s, Flyer D901s were still around too. So this wasn't that period when former 74th and NP Americanas replaced the Flyers at FG. Perhaps this was something similar. Guest
I just spotted four New Flyers coming from NP heading to FG. They were heading north on Elston ave, one of them was #1437, a 1500 and two 1600s.

BusHunter
#1765 was on the #147 yesterday at Michigan/Lake and across the street was #1768 on the #26 heading south. I also manage to finally spot #1631 on the #157. It looks pretty new like buses in the #1720's. No Byk rac advertizing yet. It must have been in the shop for warranty work all this time. artthouwill
My question would be what garage would get the new BRTs first? My guess would be 103rd, considering it has the oldest NABIs. with 77th getting the next bunch. Which reminds me of a beef I have. BRT. BRT stands for Bus Rapid Transit, correct? By its definition, it should be fast with limited stops. To me, this requires a dedicated bus lane. Thus the new New Flyer artics are just that, artics. A so called bus lane on 79th or Halsted won't do a lot of good, especially in rush hour. There is this thing called right turn lanes. Who gets priority at Chicago and Halsted where 2 of the "BRT " routes cross each other? Besides, if these routes are local routes, how is this rapid? Metro Transit in Minneapolis has a better concept with its express routes operating on the shoulder or HOV lane and there is a stop on the expressway (I-35W) at about Lake Street. You have towalk upstairs to the expressway, and the bus pulls over to a dedicated bus stop to load/unload.

Unless one is in the inside at the CTA, one can't really tell if the 150 leased hybrid articulateds are part of the BRT project, or that is covered by the RFP for the up to 900 more. Or even whether the first 150 will have the series numbers indicated, as a bigger series would be needed to accommodate any ordered under the RFP. Not to mention the status of the buses under the Durbin grant. As far as who gets priority at a crossing, it would be the bus that is behind schedule (if the Pace TSP experiment means anything). Of course, both CTA buses are probably behind schedule. Finally, this project was a way to capture $150 million forfeited by New York. I don't read too much more into it. MVTArider
Wait a minute, what style of bus are we talking about anyways? LFR's, LF BRT's or standard LF's ? I realize the RFP is still up for grabs so it may not be New Flyer. I'm just not sure what you guys mean when you refer to New Flyer artics for the BRT and those that are coming in August. You already have the D40LF's coming in which is what this thread was originally for. It wouldn't make sense to run real BRT buses on routes where they originally had Flx's and TMC's, especially on routes with heavy stop and go. BusHunter
Yesterday I spotted a few (new) New Flyer's in service. #1777 was on the #36. #1775 was on the #151. Also #1767 was on the #151 too. Wow that was quick. I think #1777 just arrived last saturday and it's already in service. Another thing I noticed lately #1762's rear shocks were already failing on the #29 the other day. The bus was leaning on rear right side. It's only 2 -3 weeks old. Time to get in on some warranty coverage!!

Again, while the RFP is competitive, there is nothing in the specs that something other than a conventional bus is wanted.

jajuan
1324 and 1461 are in service on the 146. Looks like NP still hasn't returned Chicago's and 77th's buses that it borrowed yet even though the O'Hare shuttle service is over. It'll probably happen though over the weekend since the shuttle service did end four days early.

There might be a hold placed on them. You can't transfer a bus if it's driving around.

There might be a hold placed on them. You can't transfer a bus if it's driving around. I was thinking about when I saw a couple of buses from 77th and Chicago on Clark when I made that post. Sorry about the mixup. If you'll note what I said after observing buses from 77th and Chicago haven't been returned, I already did take into account that they may get transferred back over the weekend since the shuttle service ended four days earlier than expected, and transfers seem to mostly happen during the weekends anyway with service being lighter then.
