Zol87
The bottom of the E-Alerts news release has the next Bus Tracker routes:No real discernible pattern for those of you who think it is "by garage." However, these (except 69) seem to be the heaviest not yet covered, and given that the 3 track routes were supposed to be first, 11 goes on near the end of 3 track. Apparently no more 4400s on 6, 79, and 87. Great, I will definitely use this on the 151. It has worked well on the 147. This will also help the 11 since it doesn't provide as frequent service in the evenings.
sht6131
Also since Kedzie operates the Belmont/Halsted trips of 151, it's picking up three more live routes. Too bad I still have to wait a bit longer for the 82 to go live. I am waiting for the 82 also. Wonder why it is last.

BusHunter
103rd will likely be last. You'll probably have to wait until December or January. Maybe not. 103rd could be next, but just a route here and there like the #14 or #29. With the latest Bustracker routes coming out on monday there is something that they all share with exception of the #69. They have moderate to good ridership. The #87 and #79 are in the top ten, the #6 is a busy route too. The #151 does well too. The only LSD route missing that is a full time route comes from 103rd. Probably the last routes are ones with lower ridership like the #96 route.

You could very well be right, but I just said what I said before because how CTA treats 103rd. Probably the last routes are ones with lower ridership like the #96 route. I would tend to think so as well.
Buslover88
I have a question. For a route like #79 79th, at midnight, do buses suddenly pop up or do they wait until 5am where more buses come on the route?

For a route like #79 79th, at midnight, do buses suddenly pop up or do they wait until 5am where more buses come on the route? If we're lucky, it may even come as early as tonight at 10 PM; while I was in Hong Kong over this past summer, I heard about the new Tracker with Google, as well as Kedzie's routes going on; so I went to the computer at 11 AM Monday (10 PM Sunday night here) to take a last glimpse of the Java Tracker before the new one was in tact, and to my surprise, the Google one was already up, with the scheduled Kedzie routes! So yeah, they could just pop up at 12 AM or for you early birds out there (not including me ) they'll be up for sure by 5 AM.

I wish I could be up at 10pm tonight to see that, but the school I go to requires me to be in bed around 8:30pm so I could get up in the morning. I'm also sure they'll be up at 5am and i'll be up at that time (its usually the time I get up to get ready for school and wait for the school bus to come pick me up). I will let you guys know what I find.
nflyer22
New routes up as of right now (maybe even a little earlier, but I didn't see it) .
Buslover88
The new routes on Bustracker seem nice. On #11 Lincoln-Sedgwick, there's only about 5 or 6 buses on the route right now, but i'm guessing that the route just got started a little while ago (as obvious by 1489 starting at Foster). #151 Sheridan isn't operating too many buses either at the moment, and that might not be good, because there's a 30 minute gap in northbound service from downtown to near Devon. #6 Jackson Park Express seems to be operating smoothly with quite a few buses on the route. By the way, 6882 is operating that route. The 79th route, #79 79th, seems to be operating normally to me. There are about 7 WB buses and they are 6446, 1291, 1309, 1299, 6499, 6402 and 1304. The EBs are 6519, 6515, 1282, 1295, 6864 and 6452. I will have to look at #69 (no service yet), #157 (again, no service) and #87 later. There were also other WBs I didn't see. 6495 is going to St. Laurence/Queen of Peace HS, 6442 (started at Wentworth, where 1293 just terminated) is operating to 79th and Western while 1293 was only going to 79th and Wentworth. BusHunter
So far the highest #1000 i've seen at Np on the tracker was #1775 on this morning's #11. There still is nothing higher? What will that do for the accuracy of the NP 40 foot routes. Unless they just plan to run #1400's and #1500's on there. Curiously enough there was a huge gap on the #11 from about Montrose to the North terminal at Howard. Nothing in either direction. Also the #151 seems to be OK south of Belmont because it has mostly Kedzie buses on it there. But north of Belmont there are also huge gaps like what's on the #11. Are you talking about the highest number of buses on #11 Lincoln-Sedgwick or the highest number of buses at NP in general? Because i've seen up to 1881 at NP, and that was on #11 when I saw it. Because i've seen up to 1881 at NP, and that was on #11 when I saw it. He's referring to what he has seen on BusTracker. The question is whether there is a "software glitch," similar to that formerly involving the 1750s, or something like that. The question to you is whether you saw 1881 "in real life" or on the tracker.
Buslover88
He's referring to what he has seen on BusTracker. Oh okay, thanks. The question to you is whether you saw 1881 "in real life" or on the tracker. I saw 1881 in real life, last week, operating #11 Lincoln-Sedgwick to Howard at Peterson and Lincoln. Sorry for not being elborate about it.
biffalow
Its nice to see some buses from the 77th garage on Bustracker. Busy routes at that. Good for CTA I guess. But better for the south side of Chicago.
BusHunter
79th is showing a bus #2 heading towards Ford City right now. Maybe it's the former bus from Evanston. :P
Busjack
Looking at the link to Ask Carole on the home page, it looks like for once there is some usable information, including dropping the cell phone signal which transmits the location information from the bus to the server, and problems with the "prediction algorithm." However, I wonder whether the location map should be married to the predictor, although obviously that is the case when you click on a stop and ask when the next bus will arrive. Also, there was the reference to "we still have over 150 1991 and 1995 buses that do not have Bus Tracker installed in them since we plan to scrap them by end of year (or soon thereafter)" which gives you some reinforcement on when the 4400s, 5300s, and 5800s will be gone, since we know that the 6000s do have the tracker. No explanation on why we have a hole on the newest buses, such as 4000, unless the installation contractor isn't competent, which is also implied. nflyer22
Found this to be interesting, and thought I should bring it up: Spotted 4758 on the #79 79th just now on the Tracker, and found it a little unusual that one TMC actually got Bus Tracker. A handful of TMCs were equipped with BusTracker last year (about the same time the few 5300s were), just prior to the decision to stop the project and only equip the 6000-and-newer fleet. Buslover88
There is a very rare sighting on #20 Madison right now. 5766 is traveling WB on the route at Madison near Campbell. It's good to see a 5300 Flxible on the route.
