jajuan
Announcements are now playing on #12 buses' announcement system this week informing riders that this route terminates at 16th/Indiana starting 12/28 and instructing them to transfer to the 146 at State to get to Museum Campus. I first heard them yesterday. I still wonder if CTA will bring the intervals on this route to those of the 12 since it will be serving the Museum Campus alone in 12 days. Announcements on route 35 sstate that this route will terminate at 35th & Cottage Grove and Route 21 Cermak will be extended to serve Mercy Hospital. What will happen to the 3? Will the north end short turns still use the current routing? Will it evr go back to the original flip at 30th? Would CTA consider terminating the short turns altogether? Or will CTa consider turning buses around at Mercy?

The only thing that was announced this time around was that it would go straight on Michigan instead of using Indiana between 16th and either 14th or Roosevelt. Nothing was said about the short turn. I do see that the current schedules say "Michael Reese" instead of "King Dr.-30th."

CircleSeven
Well, the alerts are up on the website, including several of more changes in other routes for the Winter Pick starting this Sunday. With the route changes affecting the south loop area & the 48 change that was mentioned on this board, several other routes are getting either earlier or later service, the N9 is going east from their current northbound nightcar terminus at Clybourn to Clark Street, and do I see a 50 minute service reduction of the Late Weeknight service on the 44 Racine? The two things I see is that:Art's question gets at least partially answered in that it says:#3 King Drive buses will no longer operate into the Michael Reese Hospital Complex. Service along Cottage Grove between 31st and 29th will be discontinued. Board buses on King Drive between 31st and 29th.The description:#81W, #85A, 90N Service Changes Service Change Buses will operate at earlier and later hours.seems deceptive in that all service ends earlier (especially 90N, which doesn't get service much into the evening (and 423 doesn't run much past 7 p.m., either)). jajuan
While out doing some last min shopping today, I noticed that new signs are up on Roosevelt westbound east of Halsted reflecting Sunday's upcoming winter service changes. They list routes 12, 18 and N62 (on stops after State Street). Funny that these are the only signs up that reflect the current west terminal at Central/Harrison for the 12. I guess they'll get around to changing the other signs eventually. It's only been almost three months since that change. <_<

This was the same thing when they changed the new 38 Ogden-Taylor stops, they didn't change it on the final 4 & 1/2 stretch of Ogden until the day after the change went into effect. But I'm shocked when that Pace change went into effect last month, the new Bus stops were posted before the change. Right now, I still haven't seen the new 18 signs, along with the new 12 signs west of Western Avenue. Also, along with the new bus assignments period going in effect tomorrow, the rail changes on Monday and the new fares starting Thursday morning, I was wondering if they would circulate new maps for January. Apparently signs haven't been reprogrammed yet on the 12 Roosevelt. They still show 'MUSEUMS/SOLDIER FIELD' as the eastbound destination. I thought they would have used the old 12 TO INDIANA destination signs until a more accurate one was made for 16th/Indiana.
renardo870
I really think that the 35th route should have still gone to Mercy Hospital via Lake Meadows routing to 31st and Rhodes/Cottage Grove, then go via 31st, Indiana/Michigan, 25th,returning via King, 26th, Michigan, 31st, Rhodes via Lake Meadows and regular routing to 35th st. but we shall see within 6months The Roosevelt route may go back to the Museun Campus during spring/summer events and of course , Soldier Field events. The King Drive schedule still shows Michael Reese pullouts. The 146 may have special Kedzie pullouts for Bears games.
Busjack
The King Drive schedule still shows Michael Reese pullouts.I see your point in that the Dec. 28, 2008 schedule has some early morning trips starting at Michael Reese, and still has the 29-31 loop on the map, even though the Alert said it wasn't going there. On the other hand, the former "every ... minutes from Michael Reese" midday legends aren't there. We might conclude:CTA wasn't totally consistent in its rationale, butMost of the short turns have been eliminated, and service is more frequent to downtown (formerly about once every 20 minutes midday).Of course, if anyone can "read between the lines" of the printed schedule, please help. jajuan
Also strange that the timepoint is 16th-Indiana, but the map on the schedule indicates that it goes to 18th. Adding to more confusion Mr. CTA also still announces 'Route 12 Roosevelt to Museum Campus.' Plus if you click an EB stop on Bustracker it says '12 to Museum Campus' but gives the correct terminal if you click the bus icon and also shows the correct routing on the map. It's a similar situation on Bustracker with the 48 and it's north terminal making me wonder if NB destination signs were updated on the 48. Though CTA did post notices yesterday (a day late) to EB stops on Roosevelt indicating that route change.

Interesting is how the signs for the trips on the 146 terminating at Roosevelt are setup now: 146 INNER DRIVE 146 MICHIGAN EXPRESS 146 to ROOSEVELT/STATE 146 RED/GRN/ORANGE LINES yes....four lines were used
MetroShadow
Seems to me that some of the destination signs have changed, most notably on the 151: 151 Sheridan to 151 Union Station (as opposed to Union sta) 151 Sheridan to 151 Devon/Clark (as opposed to CLK/DEVON)
Busjack
It's a similar situation on Bustracker with the 48 and it's north terminal ... Yesteday, 48 didn't even have stops north of 87th and Damen (it had stops south of that). Today it seems fixed, as the stops for the entire new route are there and the route progress is to Western Station. Again, these seem more like CD or server programming problems than sign ones. Some busses now read: 36 BROADWAY//36 to HARRISN/WELLS (vs to CONGRESS) However the side-signs are programmed to read: 36 BROADWAY 36 to HARRISON 36 AND WELLS The 151 CLK/DEVON has always annoyed me...its about time they changed it since the 36 was always 36 to DEVON/CLARK. Might as well match it!

I only mentioned I wondered if the 48 signs were reprogrammed because up until yesterday the 12 Roosevelt EB route progress on Bustracker still showed 12 to Museum Campus and those destination signs weren't reprogrammed. Before yesterday, it was a similar situation with the 48 in that the NB route progress was 48 to 35th/Orange Line. That's basically what I was referring to as far as destination signs. When I looked at Bustracker yesterday around 5:30 pm, I did notice that when I click on a stop, it listed one approaching bus as "to 35/Archer Orange Line" and the one before it as "Western Orange Line". I don't remember specific bus numbers, but I wonder if that means the signs on specific buses weren't reprogrammed to refelct the new north terminal or if it was just a Bustracker glitch.
