I had two operators telling me that they should've had NF's since the summer pick of last year because of the old Novas retirements. Two #1000 NFs already showing up on FG routes! BusHunter
#6872, #6674, #6578 have all joined the inoperable destinations club. #6697 is barely hanging on with only a front sign working. #6694 has this weird electrical buzz sound like an air line is trying to clear itself or whatever. I haven't heard that sound since the fishbowl buses. They used to do that alot.

BusHunter
All these #6400's haven't been in service this week since #1000 - #1014 showed up at FG. (3/6/16) #6534, #6541, #6546, #6580, #6588, #6603, #6630, #6636, #6638, #6659, #6663, #6665, #6755, #6794, #6803, #6821, #6825, #6831, #6852 (19 buses and they received 15 NF's, so maybe 4 of these are still alive.) Unless CTA thinks 15 rehabbed buses don't need as much a spare ratio as as 19 14-15 year old retirement eligible buses. But FG still has 200 some 6400s so you would still think they wouldn't sideline as many of them yet for 15 buses of relatively better condition. If correct, the scrapping has been going faster than previously represented, but based on what is supposed to come in (125 8200s, 27 electrics, and maybe 25 of the unexercised option), it now should be closer to 175. Anything over that is spares covering for junk.

I thought for sure #6455 was gone, but it popped up on the #76 on Thursday. They should probably either fix these buses with BO destinations or get rid of them. But, as I indicated in my prior post, there are too many 6400s still around.

But, as I indicated in my prior post, there are too many 6400s still around. But they don't have 30 Bo sign buses yet, we hope It seems the chicago and 74th #6400 buses have been dropping like flies. I notice #6622 is still around, that didn't run in service too much at the beginning. I remember looking for it and not seeing it for months. It probably has a little lower miles than it's counterparts. Mileage probably plays into this too. Maybe they should keep like #6872 because it's newer but it sure didn't stop them from retiring #6878-80. I don't get how buses like #6455 beat that. #6880 didn't run much, maybe it had problems. It probably was among the lowest mileage of all. #6732 is long gone, but that bus was always in the shop. Maybe it was a lemon. It was gone real quick. Even with the restoration of X9 and X49 the count is too high for what's been delivered.
andrethebusman
According to 3/8/16 list, following are gone since 2/16/16: 6541, 6545, 6588, 6603, 6622, 6623, 6630, 6636, 6638, 6663, 6665, 6825 Interestingly, 6617, 6620 which were not on 2/16 list are back on 3/8 list. Apparently were previously omitted in error.

Yeah but there's only so much space at the garage. Pardon my skepticism, but that would mean that on 2/16 Fg dropped from 260 to 248. I don't see how that's possible when they need 257 for service and nothing dependable is there yet until 3/6/16 with the #1000's. If that's the case I hate to see what has dropped since up to #1029, possibly #1030-31 is at the glen. Let me see what I can find out, something doesn't jive here. BusHunter
Ok early investigation says all those buses were in service either on the 20th or 24th except #6636, #6638 or #6545 but if I dig further I might find them. Is he sure that the 2/16 roster is not in fact a current roster for 3/8? That would make sense then. This sounds like the 15 bus retirement list of 3/6, although it seems to be only 12 buses. I'll be doing lots of lists, probably another one next week for this latest 15 bus arrival. Probably the 3/6 list will get updated to a two week list also. What I'm on the fence about is should I take those off the roster. I'm saying their gone, he's saying some are gone. Maybe I should just take the ones we both say are gone off the list. I could leave the 3/6 list up as a safety in case I'm wrong the list is repairable. I put up a destinations not working list on the roster, I kind of like that, this way I can keep an eye on those and see are being dealt or getting fixed or what.
