Last year a 8350 was involved in a accident on Valentine’s Day… now its another one… 8792 a year later on the same day

That was #8660 which got involved in a fire and ever since 8660 has since disappeared just like 7950

The 8350s are having bad luck, I’m hoping some of these accidents are repairable. I’m guessing as long as there’s no frame damage and no legal issues CTA would repair and put it back in service.

That was caused by a nut who fired a gun on the Ike at Austin & fled, hit a woman & then he crashed into the bus on Homan & the cops shot & killed him there.

As shown on WGN, the car driver sped out of the alley and T-boned the bus.

The buses are repairable. They will be back depending on the situation

Around 2000, NovaBus advertised that the rubber skirt panel could take a hit, almost exactly like that one. Maybe the bus wasn't even damaged.

Bus involved is 8521, 1165 is stuck right behind it in traffic and 8520 got stuck going the other way

1508 was rear ended in a accident along 63rd and Yale

#8912 and #1192 have collided with each other on the 82 at lake and both buses got pretty bad damage

It’s going to be a long road to lawsuits. Hard to determine who was at fault as they mentioned another vehicle involved

I think both buses are done for as far as the damage from the angles u can’t see the damage but on 1192’s behalf it looks like 1423 when it hit the L structure downtown

I’m over there right now the tow truck is pulling 1192 out but can’t because the red car is in the way

Tribune article on the accident. Again, similar to when the driver was decapitated when a bus was impaled  on the MilwN overpass over Milwaukee Ave., I'm surprised that the drivers on this board are more concerned about the buses than "a CTA driver critically wounded."

In this scenario does CTA make a claim against the driver of the sedan, can cta sue someone for damage to CTA property?

This is an unfortunate wrap on 1192 as u can see the top left of the roof on the drivers side has been chipped along with all the heavy damage it took. 8912 may see the chopping block as well

Once the litigation process has concluded we probably will see #8912 again at some point, the bus is still under warranty as of right now. #1192 will get retired due to it's age, the litigation timeline and the overall damage sustained. It's a shame a lot of these recent #8350s haven't even hit two years old yet and they've had major accidents already.

Sure CTA can sue, and the driver will probably be joined in any litigation as a necessary party, but unless he has sufficient liability insurance,  it won't matter.

How many times do I have to repeat that the warranty only covers manufacturer's defects,  not accidental damage? Hyundai will not pay if you drive your car into an L pillar,  unless the collision radar system didn't work as represented. 

And to repeat another point--why is it more important to the bus operator community that a bus can be repaired than one of your colleagues is lying in critical condition in [presumably] Stroger Hospital? I really want to know.
