BusHunter
Today I visit at Linden Avenue terminal on the Purple Line and I've seen 6-car 5000s at the railyard. Cars #5251-52, #5291-92 and #5287-88 are sitting there. Also, cars #5429-30 are on the Red Line today. Looking at this again cars are washed in 8 car sets. So with those being six cars sounds like they are on the purple line now. So what are we up to 3 #5000's trains this week? I wonder why these are not on the shuttle yet? Btw I saw a #5000 on the purple line on the last purple line sb at diversey on friday. It was 7 pm which makes it close to the last train if not the last train. Last express train sb at howard is usually around 6:45pm

I think those cars will be on the Purple Line during the work week. I also wonder about those cars at the Skokie Shops too. Oh, today I've seen 4-car sets of 5000s with signs says "Not In Service" on them. They have signs on the front door says "Rail Construction" on them. They were heading south using the express tracks when I was at Berwyn Avenue station on the Red Line.

There'sa bunch of new operators from the Spring pick and a few sleepy ones that needed replacing.

I didn't see the first two but I assume they were 11-12. EDIT: Just looked at the picture I took...it was 5405-6 at the front. 5405-06 - 5410-09 - 5408-07. BusHunter
Yeah yesterday at Howard #5411-12 and #5407-10 were over by Howard shop only 1 #5000's train was in service in the PM rush. I didn't see the 6 #5200 cars mentioned at Linden or on the Purple line yesterday. Looking for #2400's, I spotted #2421-22, #2473-74, #2505-06, #2561-62, #2571-72, #2581-82. That was about it. The work cars haven't been seen here in the last two weeks by myself anyway.

briman94
Jeez...what happened to all the 5000s? Just saw four 8-car 2600s in a row (two in each direction) at Jackson...one would think that during non-rush they'd have enough 5000s for full service *and have some left over*

Is there no way to lock out a car from being in service until it could be cleaned?

Doing so would only cause major delays.
