The preceding table has the $154 million as the total cost of the program for the 5 years, not the 100 bus component: Note, first, that they are still talking about replacing 100 Nova buses, and only talking about replacing 150 1000s, even though they previously said about 600. It also doesn't say how many additional electric buses during the 5 year program. I didn't know that was possible. Go back to 2008. Ron Huberman lied that CTA just had to have 60 foot buses to replace 6000s 3 for 4, and got a great deal on assigned options from King County. To pay for them, Ron negotiated a financial lease with Traxis Financial Group, which, BTW, also then owned NABI, both being affiliates of Cerberus. At some point, it was refinanced by PNC. But, in any event, CTA is on the hook on a 12 year lease on the first 150. Searching the CTA site for Traxis comes up with this. The rail nugget also indicates that the 7000s will be arriving a little slower than thought: Well they are anticipating the prototypes in 2019(probably 4th Qtr.), may take about the remainder of 2019 into 2020 to test non-revenue to make sure they are safe and can enter revenue service, then they'll be green-lighted by mid-late 2020 to begin production and entry into service in 2021 assuming no defects are found.
