Whoever did this they had one job & they blew 😂😂

Remember when I said posting in the wrong topic was like a 77 bus on Irving Park (or something like that)? Someone at CTA must have taken it to heart.🫢

Update: Alert is still up at the moment.

Now @Shannoncvpi knows why buses have to be pulled off the 66 to cover the 70!😝

Vote scheduled today on the mayoral recommendation of Rev. Micheal Eaddy to the CTA board. Detractors note that Eaddy has no transit industry experience. Ald. Vasquez was particularly interested in seeing if Eaddy would commit to being a regular rider (an enthusiastic yes)

Testimony here (around 30 min mark):

Side note: I think this would make him the 3rd reverend on the board if confirmed? I feel like there's a way to spin a great schism joke in there.

Eaddy does a lot of things for his community according to this "about me" thing I found but he's also super christian. Why can't they elect regular unqualified people? Why pastors?

Very sad article to read. I'm glad CTA covered the majority of the funeral costs, although that's somewhat dampened by both the overall circumstances and agency employees getting her name wrong on two separate occasions

The only real question raised in an article written 60% only for emotional impact is what duty the Control Center has to check on a driver when a bus doesn't move on the tracker.

Would the Control Center have notified that supervisor who caught the bus driver on the NW side? Or did the supervisor happen to catch wind of the issue first?

This has basically the mayoral appointee pattern for the last 25 years. Sec. 19 of the Metropolitan Transit Authority Act (70 ILCS 3605/19) says "Members of the Board shall be residents of the metropolitan area and persons of recognized business ability"  but that's not been the case. The question is whether the City Council will bring that up. I doubt it will.

Your preacher point may be relevant to whether any of them have recognized business ability."

The "regular rider" question is, again, the old game of FOIAing various board and staff members' Ventra card accounts.

The article said that the second following bus driver called 911 from a gas station. The control center didn't do anything.

They gave an example of a similar incident that happened on the NW side, that's what I was referencing

Such a shame the driver after her driver didn’t check on her bus. If the bus before that drivers bus didn’t leave they should check on the driver why they didn’t leave. Thank god the second driver noticed but it was too late because the driver was on her bus too long without help.

The Governor has made some comments about leadership at CTA, in the wake of conversations about agency consolidation and the impending fiscal cliff (I do want to note that WRT to Dorval specifically, he avoided using the term “fired”).

You're right, he talked around it, but he also appeared to dismiss the PART (especially Carole Brown) wing that it's up to the state to bail CTA out from the fiscal cliff.

Brandon Johnson was never a fan of Dorval Carter.  I wouldn't be surprised if he's working behind the scenes trying to get DC removed as CTA President.   He made that abundantly Clear when he was running for mayor.

Should he and JB get their wish, the question is who between the two will exercise control over CTA?  It was one thing for the State to try to control the CTA when Republicans held power in Springfield,  but how would a Democrat mayor react to State control by his own party,?  Lori Lightfoot wouldn't stand for it but I'm not sure about BJ.
