And the next garage to get New Flyers is...

1595, 1597 and 1598 still haven't found their way to North Park & 103rd, however 1596 may be at North Park now, CTA5750 reported that he saw on I-90.

Not true. I saw 1595 on #11 yesterday. I don't recall seeing 1597, but the only NP route I usually ride is #11, it may not have been assigned there yet.

Being even-numbered it would have found it's way to 103rd if it has made its way to Chicago by now.

Yeah sw4400, I saw #1595 on #144 on 3/24. #1598 has been around since at least March 4th. NP's #1597 and #1593 I haven't seen yet. At 103rd #1592 and #1594 and #1598 are there. Just #1596 is missing. You know I've been wondering, when a new bus comes out in service why is it when someone pulls the bell cord you start to hear this loud sound like a bell, kind of like the taco bell bell sound that you hear on their commercials, but the sound is way deeper. It keeps ringing like every 20 or 30 seconds until the stop requested sign clears or shuts off. This just seems to be on new buses, the problem clears up in a couple days. Is this somehow a factory setting from NF, that CTA has to clear up before the buses are put in service or what. I know one thing when people hear this sound, they look around like something is wrong. Very weird sound!! The more I hear this sound the more I think what is that?

Thanks for the info. I'll be looking out for it. Maybe by some small miracle of common sense we can hope for no needless swapping in the name of numerical consistancy. I don't thank poor Trainman can take anymore of this nonsense.

===Just a hunch, but I wouldn't be the least bit surprised to see the swapping of New Flyers between NorthPark and 103rd in the not too distant future --- in the name of numerical consistency, of course!

Incidentally, I came up with an unscientific tally of slightly under 300 buses at Kedzie:

124 New Flyers, including the hybrids

70 NABIs

100 TMCs (give or take a few, one of which may have just been replaced by 1630).

I'm also guessing that a few Flxibles may have migrated to 103rd in exchange for 7718-7725 as well as a handful of TMCs (including 4700 & 4710).

The next option of New Flyers may be heading to Kedzie Garage to start replacing their remaining 110 TMC's, 1630 is currently listed at Kedzie Garage.

So what happened to rmadison's prediction about North Park and 103rd receiving New Flyers until all of their 90/91 buses are gone? I have seen it, and there are still many TMCs and Flxibles at these garages. Since rmadison has the inside info and is always correct, why shouldn't we still believe him. Also, the numerical consistency, which seems to be the newest issue, would be totally messed up. By the way, how do you have a list of CTA bus assignments? Do you have a relation to the CTA that will allow you to have this info? Excuse my questioning, but I just want to be sure in what I'm believing.

This would indicate that #1630 is currently at 103rd, and BusHunter also mentioned this in his initial report of the new option, and he has been supporting his information with great deals of facts. I just want to know if you or anyone else here has seen #1630 actually being run on any kind of route from which ever garage?

I tend to agree with wordguy about with the number shuffling. Sounds just like the CTA. Me, I think I would just leave it the way it is. The initial plan with 103 and North Park was acutally a sound one. It allowed an even distribution of new stuff between north and south. Once again I will get on my soap box and say if they are going to put 1400-1525 at one garage and 1525-1629 at another (all speculation at this point) it is another example of poor planning and a waste of money to keep moving this stuff around.

In response to what Busexpert32 said, no one is going to be 100 percent correct on here. We are not androids. You just have to trust the information is correct. Some of it you can tell is wrong, Rmadison and even Busjack screw up now and then. For instance like the latest info, from Jesi2282, that #1630 is at Kedzie. I don't know it's correct, but I trust it. Even though I personally seen #1630 in front of me with a 1 run number. Sometimes you have to logically rationalize what might have happened. Perhaps the #1630 that I seen was like a prototype of the new tweaks and CTA wasn't really sure where they wanted to place it yet. To defend Rmadison, all I can say is CTA changes it's mind frequently. Look at the Nova's: Low 6600's to F, then low 6500's to F all leaving in short time. Now low #6700's to F. How long will they stay there? Rmadison said that FG will be an all Nova garage. It's not yet. Will it ever be? I don't know. The busfan in me wants the #6000's to stay at FG, this way maybe they could get some New Flyers after all. You know I like to look at the consistencies of stuff, again a new bus garage delivery ends with the numbers 29. 77th, Chicago, 103rd, and NP once they straighten out the odd/even scenario. Looks as if Kedzie will receive the next 100 again ending on 29. Most likely 74th will get 100 too. Personally I'm routing for FG to get the last 100. Maybe it will happen. Until I see an all Nova FG it's possible.

That's a valid question. Maybe one of informative members such as Rmadison or maybe even Bushunter can answer that.

I wouldn't count on an exact answer, since recent discussions have led to the assumption that our informers can't reveal the CTA's plans. I guess that we can just speculate and wait it out, since all of this will have to be known to the public once more New Flyers start coming in.

We won't know until 1631 gets put in revenue service.

I wouldn't panic. It'll probably be a Kedzie for a week before somebody decides that it needs to be moved someplace across town. I'll put money down that somehow you will see a Kedzie bus of some kind at Archer real soon. If not it'll be because they decide to make 3 moves to get additional buses to Archer...you know like send 3 TMCs back to North Park then 2 TMC's to 77th then 2 Novas to Archer....the CTA way.

So does this mean that #1630-? are going to Kedzie now?

Now we can all pretty much say that 1630+ are going to Kedzie for now, saw 1635 on 52 Kedzie/California just a couple of minutes ago, and it was so shiny and new on the outside, wheels had this strong, clean reflection of the sun, looked as if it was fresh off the line.

This may be off topic, but I also saw 6729 on 21 Cermak, and it had an 'F' sticker on it, does anyone know any more info about the trade talks with Forest Glen and Archer?

Spotted 1632 in service on Halsted earlier this evening. It features LED interior lighting which casts a bluish hue inside the bus. It's very bright and I'm sure it's cost-effective, but it sure looked cold in there!

Only a guess, but judging by earlier reports of Optimas assigned to Archer Avenue, the Archer Garage must have been desperately short of Novas. So I'd assume that Forest Glen may have given back a few of its lowest-numbered Novas to help relieve that shortage.

That's nice to know & kinda neat, though it'll be hard adjusting to the LEDs seeing that we only have them in flashlights and other uncommon, but useful light sources. Weird thing is that I thought that this Option (or maybe several options, I forget) just included in a few minor changes, like its structure, etc., and didn't include the LED lighting. By the way, I didn't get to see it on 1635 since the sun was still shining bright, and didn't get a look of the inside, just its outside.

I suppose that means we'll eventually see more Flyers on 145/148 on weekdays since Kedzie seems to like putting so many TMCs on there outside of all those NABIs since they picked these routes up 2 weeks ago. The only time there seems to be a good chance of seeing a Flyer on that corridor now is on the weekends when Kedzie uses mostly Flyers on its routes.

Something about the newest option that you guys haven't mentioned. All of the last 400 Nf's will have a protective shield for the operator on them as well as the LED interior lights you guys did mention. To me the LED lights seem to be a not as bright as the former light fixtures. But the way the lights are set up ( with vertical little lines of light) it gives me the feel of a runway or a walk down the halls of the Starship Enterprise. Very futuristic! This should really look wild on the #600's as well as the new railcars when we get them.

Today's observations:

1632 on 12 Roosevelt

1635 on 143

1641 on 145. Interestingly enough the bus number on the right side at the rear is missing.

1643 on either 7 or 126 can't exactly remember which though I'm more inclined to say 126.

1645 apparently had been in service on 12 Roosevelt earlier. When I spotted it, it was sitting at the westbound Roosevelt/Kedzie stop being hooked up to a wrecker in preparation to be towed!

So apparently the count is at least up to 1645, though it was weird seeing 1645 brand spanking new with shiny new wheels and everything already having engine problems that would require it to need a tow so soon into its service life.

This weekend Im curious to see if there will be more deliveries coming from up north.
