You know CTA is slow with selling buses they use them for parts first get as much as they can off of them then scrap them years later he'll it's still 60's 5300's & 4901 still on the lot 14-16  years after retirement

Does anyone know why CTA keeps them, since the usual reason for retiring buses is that the parts are obsolete (no longer available)? CTA trying to start a Bus Resto cable channel?

They also have to get bids from a junkyard that wanna take the busses but they don't be in no rush to do that you see they just really started junkies the 6400's when they was completely retired back in the summer but some was starting to be retired in 2014 h other had got retired before then

True, but instead of the last bid for 100 6400s and 1 800, why don't they bid whatever is in the yard, such as "up to 423 buses?" CTA only sells for scrap, as the solicitation is per pound, and I assume CTA still drains the fluids and freezes the engines.

IIRC, once the case was settled, CTA didn't keep the NABIs in the yard, but called the tow trucks.

Idk why they don't bid like that & yea they drain all the fluids that's how come its many retired buses in the boneyard now with blown motors or trannys & m talking about buses not the other so admins don't give me no dam strike but yea they will drive em over & let then run or whatever until they blow I think 6549 or a bus in that ran they blew the motor in it

There was a video of #6710 running in the boneyard but as you described it was running until it couldn't run anymore.

A host of novas along with #6401 has been moved to the north side of the boneyard from behind Forman mills lined up ready to be hauled away for scrap. A few #1000s took the spot where they were sitting over the years. #6836 is still in the same spot, #6854 has sat in the same spot in line for over a year with cosmetic damage to the front on the drivers side. This could be unrelated to #6400s, I could be wrong but all of the #800s should be gone by now not sure if #905 is still back there or not.

Only 4 #800s remain, #905 is still back there.
