6400-series Nova LFS - Updates & Retirements

When was 6488’s retirement date? As one of the earlier buses in the 6400-series, I think it was retired earlier. Did 6488 become an instruction bus immediately after its retirement? 6472, which is the Community Connection bus, is another one of the earlier buses in the series. 6472 was retired a few years ago. 6472 is at F (Forest Glen).

Scrolling through ChicagoBus.Org and I don’t see the 6400s roster on there why did they delete it?

Only Current Roster on the home page. 6400s are no longer in revenue service.

However, they are not but should be under Retired on the Buses page.

I think only one 6400 work bus remains active. I found WB 1 sitting in the boneyard today sitting next to #6867. Almost every #6400 should be in the boneyard now. I remember seeing truck #210 or #270 at Canal and Taylor last week sitting idle with a #6800 in tow.

I guess 6712 days it has done enough. You know if 6783 getting retired too?

Any word on when they will haul these and the 800s away?

Not exactly sure, it’s been 2-3 years since the been retired 6400s were last hauled away for scrap. It’s a very long process I know. Sims has won the contract for those not sure where the 800s will go, I assume they’ll be scrapped when the 1000s start to retired and be scrapped.

#6712 and #6783 should be in the boneyard. Must been another bus… I’m not sure about #6783 really. Recently they’ve stripped two 1000s #1010 and #1011.
