Anything that happens in public is the public's business! Period!

Not when you automatically post "suicide by train" without any personal knowledge.

If you think that incidents like this (and I don't limit it to intentional or accidental) show violations of the public trust, why don't you start a transit advocacy group to put sliding doors or gates at the edge of all platforms, such as on the Tokyo subway. Otherwise, the risk is inherent. Maybe you can convince Sean Duffy to withhold funds from CTA until it does so (as he did until CTA provided an otherwise mandated safety plan). But you don't believe in capital projects and just bloviate on a connected device.

Anyone hear whether we'll see any schedule changes for the spring rail pick? If history is a guide, I'd infer this Sunday may be the effective date. But with no word from CTA, I'm wondering if the timetables are staying the same more or less. (Or just usual poor comms from 567)

I'll make a guess that they're waiting until june when NITA begins existing.

No, because the NITA board is not seated unti; Sept. 1.

Most likely late like the bus schedules. Probably might see an alert about changes tomorrow if there's anything..oddly didn't this happen another spring pick or two ago?

Another service disruption near Howard.  Red Line service suspended between Thorndale and Howard.   Yellow and Purple Line service suspended.   This is due to " track conditions " near Howard.

People in Rogers Park who depend L service can’t catch a break from service disruptions.

lmao? what? why?

If you are referring to the notice about 4-car trains on weekends, if you read it, it said:

These changes allow us to provide more efficient service by reducing wear and tear on train cars, greater safety and security and cleaner railcars.

One wonders if this will be expanded to include the rest of these. Notably the Green Line is retaining full weekend consists, and no lines are cutting back on weekday late nights/early mornings (and also midday in the case of the Purple).

Good evening or morning. Just sharing some information on train consists during early AM, middays, evenings, overnights and weekends. Looks like CTA is returning to the pre-Covid 4 cars consists again on the Blue 🔵, Brown 🟤, Green 🟢, Orange 🟠, Purple 🟣 and Red 🔴 lines.

I also noticed this was perhaps the first alert posted in three languages. (I thought I was experiencing mental decline when trying to read the Polish on the platform last night.) It's a great thing to do but those screens really need work. Cycling through 3 languages plus whatever other alerts are active AND giving arrivals plus the useless CTA logo/no smoking screen...the TV Guide effect was bad before and the way this was implemented doesn't help.

That is surprising that the green line would retain 6 car consists on weekends considering its ridership is lower than brown, blue & orange. In fact the green line should’ve been the first line they thought to scale down to 4 cars on weekends.

I guess it gets down to whether they have the yard crews to change the consists. I also assume that all the pre-Covid references mean that social distancing is no longer necessary  and @wayfaringrob's post means that it took CTA  about 8 months implementing this.

Is it possible that the Green Line has an abundance of Cara and does a good enough job of spreading mileage around?  Or is it a case of simplicity of keeping 6 cat consists rather than having a bunch of two car and four car consists in the yard?

What catches me eye is that on weekends the timetable states there should be uic short turns alternating with full forest park runs but today the uic runs just aren't running. Instead of 6 minute intervals between ohare and downtown its 12.

I've found it's very common that the UIC runs get canceled which is why it's puzzling that they aren't running 8-car trains. The Blue Line is so inconsistent that it doesn't make sense to reduce the number of cars running. Also, there are several festivals going on downtown including Blues Fest and Pokemon Go. It's peak tourist season and the Blue Line is usually busy on weekends as it is.

They are also single tracking from Harlem to Jefferson Park this weekend which probably is limiting what they can run. It also makes choosing this weekend to cut cars even dumber.

It looks like they switched to 8-car trains on the Blue sometime this afternoon.
