Busjack
The Milwaukee Bus Getting Owl Service? From Where To Where? And Any Other Routes Getting Changes To Their Hours Or Routing? I Think You Missed the Announcement About Bus Service Being Provided Because the Blue Line is Being Cut at the California Station. Also, Looking At the List of Routes Affected, Which Ones Are Not, Although There Are a Few (Like 6).

Busjack
#56- Milwaukee used to run Owl Service back in the day. So Why not? The only why is that the Blue Line will be cut. A whole lot of lines used to run Owl until 1997. For instance, there used to be Owl on Sheridan north of Foster until then, also N201, but someone figured that the Red Line was sufficient. The Blue Line is certainly sufficient, being 1/4 block from Milwaukee, and the standard for any kind of Owl service is once a half hour. Conversely, all L lines prior to the Orange Line ran Owl, but someone figured that the N20 and N60 buses were sufficient, and the N20 no longer runs into Oak Park. MetroShadow
Milwaukee owl will apparently be unpicked as-needed extras. There are no owl runs on the picking sheets (unfortunately - would have been nice!) Confirmed. The big book has normal service; and as with the shuttles, will be added mid-pick. BusHunter
They could get away with just running trips to Logan Square they already have the destination signs for that.
Juniorz
N56 (Milwaukee) Night Owl Service California will temporarily close for 42 days (six weeks from Thursday, September 04, 2014 to Thursday, October 16, 2014). Blue Line train service is available at the adjacent stations at Western and Logan Square. Damen station will temporarily close for 63 days (eight weeks from Monday, October 20, 2014 to Monday, December 22, 2014). Blue Line train service is available at the adjacent stations at Western and Division. For the California closure, #56 Milwaukee buses are also available as alternate service to reach Logan Square or Western stations, downtown, or other destinations along the Blue Line. Additional #56 service will be added between California and downtown during weekday rush periods, southbound in the morning and northbound in the evening. Overnight bus service will be provided on the new #N56 California Station Owl route during the closure, to link to the closest stations in either direction of the closed California station. For the Damen closure #56 Milwaukee buses are also available as alternate service to reach Western or Division stations, downtown, or other destinations along the Blue Line. Additional #56 service will be added between Damen and downtown during weekday rush periods, southbound in the morning and northbound in the evening. Overnight bus service will be provided on the new #N56 Damen Station Owl route during the closure, to link to the closest stations in either direction of the closed Damen station. Why is service being changed? The California & Damen stations will temporarily close for construction to renovate the stations as part of the Your New Blue modernization program. TaylorTank1229
I think something they should do for the fall schedules, is for #78 Montrose is to have certain weekday trips (possibly during the am-pm rush periods) to end their trips to/from Montrose/Narragansett (Wright College) for classes at the school. It wouldn't make any logical sense for that to happen. Haven't you read about the shuttle buses on behalf of CCC???

Haven't you read about the shuttle buses on behalf of CCC??? Actually 86 did end at Wright College before CTA cut the Devon/Imlay trips from the 91 and folded that service into the 86, but your point is still made that service from 78 as dedicated diverted trips ending there isn't needed,

I should've clarified that better.
jajuan
Yeah I know about #86. I should've clarified that better. No worries I knew what you meant. But outside of the CCC shuttles NB 86 buses do still enter Wright College campus. Either way ending any trips of the 78 there still isn't needed since that route passes right along the college's northern edge.

jajuan
Where's #56's schedule? As stated before, besides the two separate owl shuttle legs to connect riders with the adjacent stations on either side of California and Damen during the respective closures of those two stations, the schedule for 56 will be primarily the same as it is now. I know its gonna be the same, but I am simpily asking whythe schedule isn't with the rest since it was one of the pick for the fall schedules. Juniorz
Here is the schedule, the N56 is not reflected within the schedule, there must be a reason why this schedule didn't have a pdf link to it Route 56 (Milwaukee) August 31st, 2014.pdf
i8itall4u
Here is the schedule, the N56 is not reflected within the schedule, there must be a reason why this schedule didn't have a pdf link to it I imagine many riders no longer use paper timetables. But, here was an opportunity to tout the additional service. CTA could have changed the text in the black box on the rear panel of the schedule to announce the overnight service, or better yet, place a text box in the front cover map itself. Absent that, the reference "additional service may be provided..." means what?

Because the owl shuttle routes are going to be done from the extra board as has been stated several posts above your question. They're only going to run between Western and Logan Square when California closes and between Western and Division when Damen closes a few weeks after California reopens. Technically the shuttles aren't even going to be part of the main 56 schedule per se despite the N56 route number given to both routes, so that's the other reason 56's schedule is not changing to reflect those two shuttle routes. Understandable, but it would've been reasonable and an opportunity to address the "New" temporary service within it's scheduled timetable

I'm not taking about the N56 or any changes on the schedule. I'm generally just talking about #56, and why the schedule is not on the CTA website. Sheesh lol....Even the CTA site says if a route is not listed it's schedule is not changing during the pick. This is always how they've handled pick changes. If the schedule is not going to change, what would be the point in showing an advanced schedule? All you have to do is look at the current one listed under the list of current schedules.
