peterpyterek
How many 2600's and 5000's are on the Red and Purple Lines today?
BusHunter
How many 2600's and 5000's are on the Red and Purple Lines today? They claim 284 cars are needed for service on the red line and 90 for the Purple so going by the rosters I'd say rough estimate Purple 70 #2600's 20 #5000's and Red 254 #5000's and about 40 #2600's. How many 2400's does the Orange Line have? Orange Line: 76 cars. As for the 5000s on the Red and Purple Lines, I think after all of the 2400s are retired, which might happen later this year, some of the cars on those two lines will shift to the Orange Line. sw4400
We are nearing a pivotal number in the 5000's.... the XX69-XX70's... 5269-5270 introduced the light blue interior replacing the beige one 5369-5370 introduced the bluish LED lighting of the railcars So, does anyone think that 5469-5470 will debut another change, major or minor? I personally doubt it, I think if anything it was just a numerical coincidence lol for a lack of better words but yea I think the rest of the upcoming 5k's will look like 5469-70 and etc.
TripleTransit1
What 2600's are on the Red and Purple Lines? Red Line: Cars #2849-50 to cars #3197-98 (110 cars--cars #3049-#3198 are from Blue Line); Purple Line: Cars #2611-12, #2647-48, #2651-52, #2681-82, #2687-88, and most of the cars #2705-06 to cars #2843-2844 (78 cars). A certain number of the range you say for the Red Line are scrap due to the two wrecks on the Blue Line. Other than that, what equipment do you list as Blue Line, since it isn't getting 5000s and needs 300 cars from somewhere?

Busjack
Just saw 2600s on the Orange line. Did those come from Purple? Did you get the numbers? However, Red is more likely (formerly some 300 2600s compared to maybe 20 on Purple, and not even that on chicago-l.org's year old car assignment page). Could be Red/Purple/Orange, but probably not for long enough to count.

I think the back two might have been 26xx-something but I could be wrong.
